This pub is stunning its like a hidden gem. We saw a lunch menu that was £5 for any meal on this menu. We were welcomed by this polite lad and he told us where we could sit. There was no one there only some locals and us. The food came out and it was gorgeous I thought it was too good to be true its £5 and the steak is quality and the potatoes and salad. Will go again
I have known this pub for over 40 years. My father used to lodge here in the 1950's. So I have fond memories of this place. But what on earth are the management thinking of when the place is so dirty and unclean outside and allowing staff to f and blind in the bar when they are having conversations among themselves. And before someone says that it had been extremely busy - no it hadn't, we arrived just after opening time. Somebody needs to get a grip. Where are the experienced staff with a burning desire and ambition to be part of something really good? What I saw was laziness and unprofessional. The two picnic tables on the lawn at the back need replacing, they are simply disgusting, you can't sit at them, one looks unsafe and the other is covered in bird droppings.
Had recently been renovated and still needed finishing off outside. 1st impression not good as on arrival rubble and dirty buckets etc on the car park. Someone outside told us to use the back door to the side to go in. We almost banged into the the door which stuck as though it needed planing on the bottom!! Nothing there on getting inside to indicate which way to go to ie dining area, bar, lounge if any. Also a step needed painting white on the edge in the hallway, as we both tripped on it. Having said that the staff were nice and friendly and efficient. We both had bar food which was good. The bar/lounge? where.we sat to the front was small but quirky. There appeared to be a larger dining area to the rear of the pub. There was some sort of function on so didn't venture in there. Ladies/Gents toilets nice and clean. Picnic benches on the front of pub nice for the summer. On the whole a nice place, which will be a very nice place when all the final bits and bobs sorted out. :-
We enjoyed a lovely lunch here today. We all had different curries and were delighted that the chef agreed to make a vegetarian version for my mother and myself. We also had the onion bhajis which were delicious. Great value too!
Our first visit for Sunday lunch. Food very good, just niggled that my wife got 4 slices of beef and I got just two! Must now wipe away the tears with my man size tissue! Seriously, lovely food.
19 July 2014. Not visited here before, we called ahead with only 15 minutes notice and were fortunate enough to book a table.Very welcoming and efficient staff. Food was great, slightly different menu. The Old Barn Inn is a little out of the way but well worth the journey. Typical country pub, great beer selection, very quiet location and a great place to spend a summer's evening.
Service was great, food was delicious and great value. Really nice atmosphere. You could see it was popular with the locals but they also made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend!
Yesterday I visited this lovely old Inn for Sunday Lunch with family and friends, to say that I was delighted is a massive understatement. Unfortunately in an attempt to post a glowing review of The Old Barn I somehow managed to insult the owner and wonderful staff by leaving a miserable one star and no comment! This venue is worthy of more than 5 stars in all departments and well worth visiting. If you’re looking for good value, excellent food and pleasant atmosphere, look no further,go and find The Old Barn Inn in Glooston *****
Ate here at lunchtime yesterday and both meals for the two of us were excellent quality and brilliant value. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Strongly recommend.
This a hidden gem. Have now been calling in on our back from Leicester and out with friends for lunch for the last two years. Alway a well pressented well cooked meal with a smile. Lovely friendly staff and people in the pub. Its not local to us but worth the effort to drive. Well worth a punt of anyones time.
