The Black Horse
"The Black Horse is situated in the picturesque village of Foxton, just off the A6 about 3 miles out of Market Harborough. We are a short walk on the tow path from the popular tourist attraction of Foxton Locks. If you are out and about visiting the Locks call and enjoy our large well kept garden areas. Using fresh ingredients to produce fabulous meals that you can enjoy outdoors or in our conservatory restaurant where you can still take in the extensive views of the countryside. If you are enjoying a break on a narrow boat, then there are 48hour visitor moorings either side of the Black Horse bridge in Foxton, we are only 50 metres up the hill. We offer a wide range of honest home cooked food and a good selection of real ales."

Absolutely loved our experience here...just got back and had to do a review right away. The atmosphere is so nice, relaxed and welcoming, every staff member we encountered was polite and so friendly. The food was perfect, the chips were gorgeous. And brownie with custard to finish, what more could I want. Plenty of parking, seating both inside and out. Might have to go back Thursday. Wish we were local. People of Foxton you are very lucky.
We had a pint each and the pie of the day meal. Pie was well worth it . Would had preferred fresh vegetables not frozen peas as they only option. Over all we where both very full . Price was very reasonable Serving staff was lovely . Took the opportunity to leave the car and walk along footpath to see the locks . Would I come back. yes . It's a nice setting and I bet in the summer its gorgeous.
We popped in for lunch whilst out on a walk and enjoyed a lovely Brie, bacon and cranberry baguette. Good portions and well priced. Despite arriving right at the end of a lunchtime service we were still made to feel very welcome and staff were polite and accommodating. Lovely outdoor seating area undercover, perfect if your out exploring around Foxton as we were. Dogs welcome here too.
Luckily will stopped at Foxton after coming throught the locks, and moored up directly below the Black Horse... Even luckier it was the Wednesday/Thursday "Pie & Grill" nights, whereby as family of four enjoyed 2 steaks, half chicken and chips + chicken goijons, started with a camembert sharing starter, washed down with a couple of fine ales, sat in the conservatory area, very pleasant and friendly staff, really enjoyed the evening, would definitely recommend and will certainly call again if passing
Lovely roast dinner. So Friendly and the service was excellent . We will be back soon.
Excellent location with good food and service with gluten free options. Shame there wasn’t a plant based roast option and desserts. Has a small car park that was full on a Sunday lunchtime but there were spaces over the road. About 20min walk to Foxton locks.
Liked the place. Sadly my veg burger was rock hard. Couldn't eat it. Chips gorgeous as I rarely eat them! Lovely staff. Plan to visit in the summer as outside and conservatory looked amazing! I did tell the manager discretely after our host had gone to avoid her embarrassment and the manager offered a refund which we declined politely.
Really delicious food and well priced - beautiful location with a large outdoor space. The indoors is well laid out and decorated with a comfortable conservatory to see outside. Would highly recommend if you're in the area
After having a Sunday roast here with my wife, I can honestly say this is one of the best roasts I’ve had. The lamb I had was cooked perfectly and portion sizes are very generous. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good Sunday dinner
Lovely dog friendly pub, made to feel very welcome, food delicious with good service, great place to end up after a walk along the towpath
