We went for food here, ordered 2 chicken stack burgers, and a mega mixed grill. We were told that there would be half an hour wait because they had to clean down the kitchen due to a customer with an allergy. This is fine, no problem. Obviously, this is an allergy, and we completely understand. No problem at all.nn58 mins later, we are still waiting for our food. I went to the bar to ask how long it was going to be, thinking that maybe the order hadn't gone through. A party of around 8 people, had literally walked in 20 mins ago and were getting their food brought out to them. He said he would go check and apologised.nWe were offered some free drinks which we didn't take because we just wanted to leave at this point. Our chicken burgers were actually quite nice, though the fries with the burger were rock hard as though they had been sat under a warmer for some time. Ordered Montery Jack cheese on one for £1 extra and macaroni cheese as an extra side on the other one for £2. The macaroni cheese came in the tiniest pot, all congealed, like it had been sat there all day. It could've done with a stir maybe to make it look more appetising. The mixed grill was awful. Everything burnt, except the sausage and the peas. Fries were rock hard too. Steak was asked for medium but it was like rubber and burnt.nnReally disappointed.
Ben, Oliver and Olivia made my experience at the old ball a memorable. Which I would highly recommend if you ate in the local area.
A really nice pub on the roundabout, the live music was good and service was great! Wouldn't mind going back when I'm in the area again. Decent social atmosphere.
Been here twice for food.nBoth were busy times of the day, on a weekend.nn1st time was good however we a table for 2 were placed on a large table right in front of the TV when sports were playing. You'd have thought the staff would've reserved a more appropriate place for us to sit.n2nd time the 2 female staff lied and said that we didn't have a booking on their system and practically shrugged us off. They clearly hadn't bothered to reserve a table, and suggested we find our own seats - which was impossible. Luckily one of the male staff found us a table that was likely the one we had reserved anyway. I don't expect to be treated like royalty in a cheap pub, but at least take the time to put a sign to show a table is reserved.nnA shame as the food is really great and at a good price. But, it's not worth it if most of the staff are blasé about not doing things they should have done. Perhaps consider placing the male staff that helped in a more managerial position.nOverall, come for food - but not during busy times of the weekend.
Lovely atmosphere and great service from all staff members. Shoutout to Cory for his excellent Guinness pouring skills, my Irish grandad was very impressed.
