We booked a table for 10 people and were asked to confirm our menu choices in advance of arriving, as it is the Christmas season. We were shown to our table at 6.40pm, at that point the only diners in the restaurant. The food arrived at 7.30pm - why? To say the quality was poor is an overstatement. I have never had a worse meal anywhere. I opted for turkey with all the trimmings. What arrived was tasteless meat, roasted potatoes so rock hard and overcooked I could not eat them. Add to that unpeeled carrots and parsnips, watery gravy and burnt Yorkshire pudding- it honestly is hard to fathom how they could get a roast dinner so wrong! The pudding chocolate & cherry tart was also inedible, being so solid you could not cut through it without breaking the plate!nWhen I complained, the waitress argued with me that she had “asked if everything was ok” just after this rubbish was delivered to the table! I told her to try eating it and see what she thought, she rolled her eyes and agreed to waive the charge as I refused to pay.nIn short, do yourself a favour and avoid this place like the plague, it’s a total joke.
AMAZING roast may even be the best I've had at a pub. We rung ahead and got the last of the day and it was still SO fresh, well seasoned and beautiful. We got it on the half price offer so two roasts, 2 portions of cauliflower cheese and two soft drinks for £30. Pub it's self was clean and nicely decorated, staff were super friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend and return if in the area
We booked a family get together here, there was about 20 of us and we had a few requirements too. They got every order spot on, the food was fantastic, the staff were attentive but not too much they pretty much left us to it and the atmosphere was brilliant. Thank you to the all the staff for making it a lovely day.
Excellent service , great helpful staff.nnLocation okay but very noisy on Saturday night , single glazed window.nBathroom dusty and dirty around bottom of shower cubicle.nnLovely bedding on bed and comfortable bed.nStaff make this place good.
We hired the function room at the end of the bar on Saturday night for a 60th birthday party. A perfect space - comfy seating and great decor the whole place has recently had a pretty good refurb. We went in to decorate ourselves and had free rein to make it ours using non stick tape etc .nHannah and her team were absolutely fantastic - nothing was too much trouble - the room was set up exactly as expected in advance- proper linen table cloths, Prosecco in ice buckets and frozen strawberries in the glasses, all beautifully presented - food arrived bang on time and great quality and the service was excellent- discreet but done - nothing was too much trouble! Can’t recommend highly enough - well done Hannah and massive thanks from us all - everyone was utterly delighted with the evening Rachel Meaden
