Lovely ship, well maintained and clean. They offer tour of the ship and various events either moored or whilst sailing the river. We attended the event of sea shanty with pirates and fish&chips, whilst sailing down the harbour. The weather was perfect and the gig with Pirattitude just great!! Drinks were also available for purchase during the voyage.
Very beautiful ship need the M Shed, it was built long time ago and sailed the world one day..you can have a free short tour inside it.. the crew are nice here
The replica Matthew first sailed to Newfoundland in 1997 - commemorating John Cabot's voyage in 1497. It now takes people on shorter harbour and river trips, with fish and chips, sea shanties, cream teas according to your preference. A great day out.
Great ship to explore but its quite small. You need to be nimble. Great info from the crew if you want to ask. It still sails so might not be there. Check 1st
Our little one loves to climb aboard and explore the boat. He likes to listen to the fun facts shared by the staff especially Paul about the boats history and looking through the knot keyring/bracelet box, of little goodies handmade by Jane.
The Matthew is not in its usual place I managed to capture these pictures whilst on a walk around the harbour.
What a fun and fabulous way to spend a beautiful sunny Friday evening in September, in tbe company of a friendly crew and swashbuckling singing pirates on The Matthew touring the harbourside, of course not forgetting the addition of great tasting fish and chips. Loved it. Its an absolute must do. Highly recommended.
Fabulous evening Friendly crew Sunshine Fish and chips Perfect Thank you
This is a significant piece of living history. A full working replica of a 15th century merchant ship. It has already sailed to Newfoundland and back and regularly makes short journeys to raise capital for maintaining the vessel in a sea worthy licensed state. 90% of this work is by unpaid volunteers. I was so impressed i decided to volunteer myself.
Went for a trip around the harbour on it. It was a great way to see that part of Bristol. The crew were really knowledgeable and they had a number of different trips. Would very much recommend.
