Never experienced such racial profiling in my life. I was out celebrating a friends birthday, dressed well, and causing no problem at all. There were about 10 people ahead of me in the queue, they all got absolutely fine but as soon as I got to the door I was told no by the bouncer. Someone who I was informed was the Assistant Manager stepped in and told the bouncer to let me in. My question is why was I stopped in the first place. They tried to fob me off with the excuse that it was the way I was dressed. This is what I was wearing... Black top, Black trousers, Boots and some braces. Others were wearing just t-shirts, jeans and trainers. So was the reason I was stopped was because I was over dressed? Doubt it! It was complete racial profiling against someone they see as a Tall black man. All the Caucasian’s got in fine. I know this because I was with them all. Eventually I decided to approach the manager who was a moron when I explained the situation his first response was “but you got in though so what’s the problem?” First of all, yes I got in but why was it made harder for me then for anyone else. Secondly he responded by saying “that every 7th person either gets checked or isn’t allowed in”. As I’m writing this, it’s baffling that this kind of system exists, but let’s be realistic, it doesn’t. There were 10 people in front of me and quite a few behind me, none of them got checked and therefore this system of theirs was made up to disguise the real reason. The manager also said that because the bouncer was black also I couldn’t have been racially profiled. That remark was almost laughable. You can be profiled by anyone whether they are the same ethnicity or not. Once again completely trying to disregard anything I was saying. Last of all, once the conversation was becoming too much to handle for the manager, he then did the classic. The calm down trick. That I was being too aggressive. All that results in is trying to do is give anything I have just said less substance. Trying to invalidate anything I have said due to my “aggression” . Don’t confuse aggression for passion. There’s a difference. Anyone who gets picked from the line would feel the same. It’s just the cowards move to get them out of something they can’t handle. The manager was a disgrace. Caucasian male with long dark hair incase you’re wondering. He should learn how to address these things properly and in a sensitive manner. He is obviously an amateur and should be fired. To rate this place 1 star is generous to say the least. So please count this as -6 stars. Ps. They will probably say that I was too drunk bla bla bla. Well I was sober enough to remember everything that happened, so try it.
