Attended the show on the 5th October 9pm. What a load of rubbish and complete waste of time and money, you would have thought the compere was a seasoned comedian, this guy was terrible, asked the audience some questions but went nowhere with it, pointless and didn’t seem to have any routine and seemed as though he was just winging it for a bit of easy cash The other comedians on the evening were so bad I don’t think I laughed once, I just wanted to sleep or leave. Boring
Doors close half an hour before the show due to start, yet the show still started 15 mins late. Intermission between every single act. They say it’ll be a 10 min intermission but it was 20 every time. So essentially, you’ll be there for three hours for about sixty minutes of actual performance. The acts were great but the layout of the comedy night dragged out, presumably to try and get people to spend more money at the bar.
Came to Nottingham for my stag do. They stuck us right at the front so we were clearly going to get singled out and we were. It was hilarious. Fantastic acts, brilliant atmosphere, lots of breaks so we could go for drinks too. Throughly enjoyed it. Great fun
We were really looking forward to this but it ended up being pretty average.. Poor organisation and communication left us waiting around in an amazing very crowded bar area to be let in to the stage room. Hardly any seating available whilst we waited. Saw four acts - comedy is very subjective so I'm not factoring this into the review. Personally I found 2 pretty funny and 2 not so much. Cheap and cheerful I suppose so if you're looking to do something a little different at an affordable price then check it out, but manage your expectations in line with that.
Went Saturday 18th May and had a lovely evening out with friends in terms of “value for money” and having a few laughs. The audience were good at supporting the comedians, laughing in the right places etc. The best bit for me was the DJ- he played a brilliant set.
A literal waste of your time! 15 minutes acts spaced out by 30 minutes of waiting at the beginning and in between every single act! Clearly more interested in selling drinks than actually giving people a good night. Had to wait a total of 2 hours in total for 45 minutes of material. Very poor.
Possibly the better of the few comedy clubs in Nottingham. The acts change regularly, and generally theres a good lineup with some well known favourites too. Unlike Glee, the venue is split between a bar area and the actual theatre. This works really well, as you get up and stretch your legs at each intermission. Drinks prices are pretty good, and youre not getting ripped off. Theres no food here, so plan your evening well as Saturday night acts start at 8pm and run till around 10pm or later.
Henning Wehn a real let down. Went to a 7pm show. 1st comic pretty good. Then a break. 2nd comic superb. Then Henning who dashes on. Runs through old routines. Long conversation with German in crowd. M6 toll. Living in Hastings. Folk song. etc etc etc. The MC talked too much and it was obvious that they wanted the audience out to get the 9pm shift in.
Visited Just The Tonic in Nottingham for the first time last weekend and had a truly fantastic evening! The show was great value for money approx. £15 a ticket. The line up was great, the staff were very friendly, and drinks were also very reasonably priced. Regarding the show itself, Ricky Balshaw was utterly fantastic and by far our favourite act of the night. We would love to see him back there! Thanks again!
Darrell - I hope. You read this and it's meant to be constructive. You clearly run a valuable comedy night in Nottingham and respect for that. However your nights would be better without you. Your comparing and jokes lean on homosexual gags and lazy stereotypes of disabled people and punches down. You could do better so please do
