Fantastic fish and chips. One of the best ever. Do also try the onion rings, magic, and not too forget the garlic pizza, amazing. Very good value for money. They also have some exellent ales. But not the best place if you have some allergies. So check before.
Really enjoyed my first visit to the Lord Clyde. We had gammon, eggs and chips + ginger ale, each, plus one espresso. Total cost £36.70. Service was friendly and efficient, food was hot, tasty and plentiful. Overall, to be recommended!
Lovely rural friendly pub in the middle of green fieldsnFine portion sizes and tasty simple foodnGreat place
We chose to stop at the Lord Clyde on a walk on Wednesday because I checked the Facebook site on Monday that said the pub was opening for lunch on Wednesday at 12. We arrived just before 11.50 with the intention of waiting outside until the pub opened at 12. However the door was open, the lights were on and staff around so we politely asked if the bar was open. We were asked if we were with with Astra Zeneca, we said no so we were told abruptly that the pub was shut for a private party and they would not serve us a drink.nWe sat outside for a few minutes during which time a sign was put outside saying the pub was shut for a private party.nWould have been far better to have politely explained the situation and offered to serve us a drink at least if we had waited until the official opening time. At which time the private party had still not arrived. It seems the Lord Clyde are more interested in obtaining business from corporate customers. We should have just lied and said we worked for Astra Zeneca. I’m sure we’d have been served no problem if we had.
Nice setting and outdoor area with cover for rain. With that said, no option for food which left us highly disappointed. Could have been more smiles from staff and customers alike
