Welcome to Cambridge's friendliest venue. Our 9 fully licensed auditoria provide the ideal setting to see latest films and live theatre events.

Story

A 9 screen all digital cinema close to a great selection of restaurants and bowling located in the heart of Cambridge.

At The Light we cover all of your movie-going needs, showing the latest blockbusters, independent film, and bring back classics for to either revisit or experience for the first time on the big screen.

We also offer a range of event cinema in our Light Arts programme that featues ballet, opera and theatre, plus music, sport too!

You can kick back and enjoy a wide selection of hot drinks, plus an extensive collection of beers, wines, spirits and cocktails in our cafe bar. All of our screens are fully licenced so you can enjoy a drink whist sat in our luxury seating.

The Light is a champion of accessible cinema and provide a wide range of screenings so everybody can enjoy a day at the movies. Our programme includes subtitled, autism friendly, audio described, baby friendy and dementia friendly films!

I am very disappointed with how clean the cinema is, my seat had crumbs and popcorn all over it. The arm rest looked like someone had bitten or ripped the material. Not to mention my seat was broken, however this issue was resolved and I was given another seat.

The manager was a d*ick head and the cinema itself is bad as in bad quality sound and seats. GO TO THE VUE INSTEAD GREAT SEATS AND FRIENDLY STAFF.

The Light Cinema has changed a lot since it was taken over from Cineworld. The venue is now more welcoming starting with the green room themed foyer with plenty of sofas and a bar. You can now have a cider or a hot drink as well as the standard soft drinks and popcorn. Bringing IMAX to Cambridge is a statement that they take cinema seriously – they care about the viewing experience too. Personally I'm a bit disappointed with this since it's only a Digital IMAX (less than 4K resolution), not the true 70mm film projection. But probably the most important thing is that they kept a similar subscription service which gives you unlimited access for about £16/month.

I'm very impressed with how this cinema is run given the fact that it is a very municipal type of building. The staff are trying to keep it immaculate. There is no rubbish around. Everything is in it's place and like other reviews say, the staff and very helpful and friendly.
