This hotel has seen better days. The stairs and hallways are tacky, the carpets are worn and stained. Entering the room, I was struck by the artificial smell of air freshener. Which is never a good sign, more of an indicator that there is some other smell this is trying to cover. The window was dirty and I could only open it a tiny bit. The bathroom on the other hand has been recently refurbished and everything was squeaky clean. If you are looking for a cheap accommodation for one night and don't intend to spend more time than necessary in your hotel room, this hotel might be alright. It's definitely not a place where I'd like to spend more. This place urgently needs a few buckets of paint & new carpets. The employees were all friendly and very helpful.
Stayed here in 2023. £50 for a night in a single room, was pleasantly surprised with how warm and comfortable it was. Plus a sea view too. Got a nice sun rise. Will definitely be returning on future visits.
We live in room 2, which is unacceptable in total. Windows cannot be closed-how ridiculous. It led to an awful sleeping with a small double bed since we suffered half midnight with loud noise by revellers on the road. Besides, the wall is super thin; we can clearly heard the noise of the lift from 6 am. Please, if the reception of this hotel can notice my review, I believe some people need to redecorate this house deeply. By the way, we paid 104 pounds for one night like it.
Best thing about the hotel was the sea view and location to the theatre. Other than this, the hotel is in major need of updating. Broken floor tiles in bathroom, broken door handle, extremely poor lighting, broken string for light cords, broken lamp. TV positioned above the bed so not sure how you are supposed to watch it, really it felt like student accommodation. Lift felt unsafe so used the stairs to access room on 4th floor. Plus side, the maid was friendly and kept the room clean. .
Great view of the seafront. The rooms are of a good quality and I would much prefer going here over any of the generic hotel chains. I accidently booked a twin room and the clerk kindly informed me and changed the room to a double for me.Rooms: 4/5
As a Wedding Photographer I’ve enjoyed photographing weddings here the grounds are great lots of opportunities for photos and love working with the staff there. All so friendly. Visit my work also or email to see my wedding portfolio.
Windows, curtains, fixtures and fittings didn't work or where badly fitted. The outside entrance had carpet on it. The lift could only take 1 person at a time. Beds where very uncomfortable.Rooms: 1/5
Wish I could have stayed longer. Clean & comfortable. No, not huge, but comfortable double bed, hairdryer, new kettle not scaled up or broken. Yes, the decor in the hallways isn't like a home in Hampstead but it's fine and in the rooms it's all well maintained and tasteful without being dull Rooms: 5/5
A little expensive for a three star hotel but still a favourite of ours. Nice friendly welcome with clean and good sized double room in our case with pleasant views of the sea front. The room looked recently decorated with modern lighting and bathroom but could have done with an in room safe and some cupboard storage for clothing. The hotel is a 10 minute stroll from the station and is on many bus routes. It is well placed for the White Rock Theatre, town centre, sea front and an easy walk for St Mary in the Castle, the Old Town and all of the tourist attractions. Some rooms do have small balconies so you may wish to try and bag one of these.
I enjoyed my stay here. However far too many stairs to get to your room and walls were so thin the people in our neighbouring room kept complaining about our TV - which was barely playing loud enough for us to hear. Best thing is the sea view from the windows and the distance to the beach. Don't stay here if you're looking for luxury, it's more practical this hotel. Overall was pleasant.
