Wonderful 21st birthday celebration dinner in the restaurant's private dining room. Annie helped to organise everything perfectly. The food was outstanding, as it always is here. A truly fabulous evening.
Lovely experience with friendly staff, the food and drinks were lovely and the meals were large portions. We will be back.
I arrived home this evening after dining at The Kings Head and I can’t understand what all the hype and fuss is about, so much so that I decided to read the reviews to understand the opinions of others. I found the food average, the staff standoffish, borderline rude and the restaurant dated in all aspects. My scores are as follows: Food 4/5 Service 2/5 Dining area 3/5 Value for money 2/5 With so many dining experiences to choose from these days I don’t feel the need to return here.
Had a lovely dinner here. Went for the duck as it’s their speciality. Was amazing. Staff, service and food was all great. Only thing was atmosphere. There wasn’t many people in the restaurant so it’s hard but there was nothing to fill silence. Was just very quiet but that’s all.
A seriously good lunch experience. Unhurried. Quality. Good value despite the cost. It's not cheap but you are definitely getting what you pay for. Well sourced, great quality ingredients, treated with respect by the kitchen staff. The drinks menu is again quality at, I would argue, a fair price. The half bottle of Claret was very reasonable. Service was attentive without being overly so. This was a first visit, but won't be the last.
The food was first class but our experience was marred by the awful service. We had two children with us, aged 11 and 9, and despite being assured when I booked that they would be able to have smaller portions, the maitre’d said they couldn’t. There wasn’t a vegetarian option on the menu and after much huffing and puffing from the maitre d, the chef did provide a dish for my daughter in law. The two young women waitresses were unpleasant. Suffice it to say we will not be returning
Overwhelmingly disappointing. Place was stuffy, food was quite nice but not worth the price paid and the staff except for our waitress who was lovely were exceedingly rude. I can't say that I'm likely to wish to go again.
Excellent from beginning to end. They greeted us at the door and offered us drinks - we had drinks in the bar whilst perusing the menu. We were guided to our table and the courses came out in good timing. The haddock and salmon starters were absolutely delicious as was the foie gras. Two of had the duck which is must if available, and is very generous. The other two had the featherblade steak and lamb loin which were fantastic. You have to pre order that tart tartan but would HIGHLY recommend. The service… well it was next level… they anticipated every move or need and it was appreciated- for me it was it really was the quality of the food and outstanding service we had on the table. I cannot recommend this place enough
Read a lot of comments about fine dining and being on parr with more lets say more celebrated establishments. Well to those peole I would say I firmly believe you have not been to many exceptional or Michelin restaurants. The food is good, but its nothing to write home about. Service was poor as its all young kids. Nothing against them as I worked in pubs and restaurants when I was young, but its not what you expect from the price range and apparent kudos this place seems to command. Very old fashioned in its design to serving food and presentation on the plate. Serving on trollies and its clear it caters well for its "aging" clientele. Nothing particularly wrong, but its far below what modern resturants offers in class, style, atmosphere, etc. Especially when there are other better inc Michelin restaurants within a 5 mile radius whose prices are barely any higher.
Very good. Service could be a little friendlier. The duck is amazing.
