Absolutely fantastic pub, one of the few and rare traditional English pubs left.. It has an enormous outside gardens t the rear, with both a separate restaurant and bar, which is dog friendly. With fantastic staff and an impressive menu.. The food is top notch and I couldn't falter the whole experience. The locals are super friendly too and I'll def be back when in the area.
We were shown to our table straightaway. Very rustic feel to the place which I love. It was vusy so there was a great atmosphere. We ordered the chicken liver parfait each and we went for the roast chicken and roast beef. My daughter said the beef was slightly to fatty for her but she enjoyed it none the less. My chicken was amazing. We decided against a dessert as we were to full. We plan on booking again soon as we plan on taking my dad.
The place is nice, food was OK but nothing too exciting. You find a better battered fish easily somewhere else. Price was rather a bit expensive for what it was. The place was a bit cold and the service not at the top for a Sunday evening and the fact that there where only few tables occupied. Plus is that they have a charging possibility for e cars on the parking.
Lovely ambiance, caring staff and the food was cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed our night out with my sister and we will definitely be back.
Have been here several times and have never been disappointed. Service and food is excellent, both well above standard pub expectations. Good options for vegetarians and vegans which has been handy when I have come here in a group. Large garden area with shade. Additionally two free charge points for electric cars, so you can charge while you dine.
Still the best pub and restaurant in the area. Have been coming here for over 30 years. Staff are always great, helpful and go the extra mile to make sure you are comfy. The food is exceptional with the roast dinners being one of the best I've had. Love the dog friendliness and the size and garden. 100% stop here for a pint or lunch or dinner if you are passing through or live nearby.
Great pub with great food and beer/etc selection. We had an 80th birthday party there and all the food was fresh, hot, and tasty when served for 18 people individual orders.
This pub was a great visit. Isolated in a nearby village outside of Leighton, it’s surrounded by trees and has lots of seats outside to enjoy the view. Really nice old vibes inside, low ceilings etc and their sirloin steak on the bone is one of the best I’ve ever had. Food presentation is also top notch. Their salted caramel tart topped it off perfectly. Highly recommended. Don’t skip on this place
We had a very enjoyable lunch in the restaurant. The fish & chips were delicious, the small dessert with coffee option is a great idea & lovely NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Service was attentive in a very pleasant atmosphere.
I worked here for roughly 2 month as a agency chef. With all due respect they had no respect for my beliefs/ personal choices. 1 star is an understatement. I would happily rate it -5 for the behaviour. I feel it is my responsibility to expose this particular pub to warn possible future candidates who are thinking of applying here. This is the email I sent to my agency boss after I felt like I had no choice but to walk out. Evening Jason, It is unfortunate that I have no other option but to renounce my assignment given. I have made the decision to cancel my assignment midway through my shift today. This is because Aga, the front of house staff, spiked my Orange juice with prosecco for the Christmas toast, knowing full well I don’t consume Alcohol due to my religious beliefs. Prior to the toast the Deputy Manager ‘Datzy’ asked me twice if I wanted to consume prosecco for the toast and I politely refused. In the past several staff members have offered me alcohol and I refused and stated clearly I don’t consume it due to my religious beliefs. They have been aware of this prior to this incident. I enquired about it the Head ChefOli who also happens to be Aga’s fiance, he replied with ‘It’s part of the tradition; “its called Buck’s Fizz”. I had only approached this matter to him in hope of support and understanding but to no avail. I have taken this as racial discrimination and will be taking further action accordingly. My experience at this workplace has been unconventional. Have not been shown any respect at all throughout my whole assignment as they were not hospitable. By bringing this to your attention we can follow this up on a phone call to discuss in a detailed manner about the nature of this incident. I hope for your understanding and support. Kind regards. People working in establishments under a national company should be exposed in my humble opinion. I was severely mocked throughout my whole time and the General Manager Karen also said to me "I'll have to shove my turkey legs down your throat" all because I have a personal choice of consuming Halal meat. The Head chef told me my drink had alcohol in it as it was part of "Tradition". Wow! Really?! So in comparison, does a vegan get served Turkey meat on Christmas as part of "Tradition"?! Simple answer is NO!!!!!!. EVERYONE'S PERSONAL CHOICE MUST BE RESPECTED! The purpose of the turkey example I just gave was to provide a brief insight on different scenarios a Humans personal choice must be respected as a customer, let alone an employee who strives to excel at his job. Absolutely vile behaviour!
