About

The Kings Arms is a beautiful listed building located in the heart of Old Amersham. With 32 bedrooms, we are sure we can offer you a relaxing, memorable stay. Please take a look at our page or contact us to find out about our current offers.

Story

The Kings Arms Hotel may date from the Tudor period but its interior reflects the very best in modern sumptuous design.

As the famous ‘The Boatman’ in Four Weddings and a Funeral the hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway. You may also recognise us from the ever popular ‘Midsomer Murders’. The hotel provides a tour map of all the other filming locations from this television series for you to explore.

Located in the heart of Old Amersham, renowned for it’s exclusive boutique shopping and fabulous antiques, the hotel is an excellent base for the seasoned shopper and with our links to the local golf course, there really is something for everyone before returning to relax in the lounge whilst enjoying the log fire.

The original part of the hotel features individually designed bedrooms that cater for the executive with large desks, broadband access and flat screen televisions, and being located only 50 minutes on the tube line from Wembley Stadium and 67 minutes to the centre of London, Bank stop. If travelling by car you will find we are only 10 minutes drive from both the M40 and M25. A range of conference facilities are also offered through our partnership with Palladia.

For hundreds of years weary travellers, including Oliver Cromwell, have found relaxation and great hospitality in the hotel and have enjoyed returning from local attractions such as Ascot and Windsor Racecourses & Cliveden House to name but a few.

We are now proud to announce the arrival of 'The Kings Bar & Bistro' at The Kings Arms Hotel. A separately owned restaurant is now available to guests, who can dine in the relaxing traditional bar area at lunch time and the more formal restaurant in the evening. Table reservations can be made with the Bistro staff prior to your stay by calling 01494 723989.

Whether here for business or pleasure, please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable.

A nice place, good food, great service. Nice building. Well preserved architectural features, worth a visit.
Excellent food and good service. Menu is traditional, but very well executed. Cocktail and wine list are small but serviceable. Warm ambience, and a mixture of tourists and friendly locals.
Great little pub, full of character, in the heart of old Amersham. The staff are warm and welcoming, with a good selection of food and drink. Ask for Stephan - he provided excellent service throughout our meal.
Not the best experience, popped in for a bit of lunch on New Years Monday. It wasn't busy so we asked for a table for two with room for a dog and was told we can sit where we liked, picked a table out of the way but had to clear some broken glass off the floor first. Eventually the waitress? appeared and we asked for menus, she came back with full menus so we asked again for lunch menus. We had to order at the bar with a bit of a wait as no one was there, but all the other tables had their orders taken at the table. Food was just OK with overcooked Halloumi fries and a Steak and Stilton Bap that was advertised as finished with caramelised onions, but in fact it was two rings of raw onion and a 6 large slices of Tomato I hate Tomatoin a Ciabatta!!! But at least the Chips were very good. Had to go to the bar to pay and again no one was there so had to wait. Thing thing that annoyed me most was not once were we welcomed, asked how the food was or even how was it when we paid. Not likely to return.
I went to the bar at the front! Great servers, super friendly! And good beer
A really lovely family Sunday lunch. Very pleasant hosts, great food and excellent liquids.
Great Sunday roast with succulent lamb. Charming atmosphere of an ancient inn.
Nice cod with Parma ham
Great food, lived the salmon
