Recommended. Have now stayed twice. Good value. Friendly staff. Outstanding cooked breakfast. First experience in an upstairs bedroom, was not ideal ( a rather tired room which was also quite noisy). Second experience last week, in a ground floor room across the courtyard, was excellent. Clean, well-equipped, large comfortable bed. However, had to prompt the staff to replenish the toiletries and loo roll on the second day.

This is a really nice inn - the rooms are beautiful, the service is great and the breakfast is delicious. The bathrooms could use renovating, but they were clean and fine. Only bad thing is we were in a room facing the main street, and on Saturday night it was extremely loud with people passing by on their way out for a night on the town. There is a bank machine right across the street, so everyone walks by there, and are talking and yelling loudly - it sounds like they are right outside your window. Several other guests at breakfast also complained that they had trouble sleeping. Ask for a room on the back side of the building if you're staying on a weekend night.

We stopped in The Kings Arms for a cheeky pint before the Dire Straits UK show at The Assembly Hall (www.direstraitstribute.co.uk). Lovely little place (so much nicer than the Tavern next door by a mile!). Lovely atmos, great food, good beer, lovely staff. The Kings Arms will definitely be our pre-show venue when we're in Melksham!

Chilled place for a quiet one. Just a shame the beer selection is all Wadworth drafts but it's the same all over Wiltshire I guess.

Lovely atmosphere. Comfortably warm. Service good and food very nice. Good sized portions.
