An amazing meal, lamb shank, rich sauce, mashed potatoes with diced parsnips and carrots … ‘melt in the mouth!’ Delicious!!! Fantastic and friendly service by all the staff. Good beer too! My son’s chicken linguine was delicious too! Decent prices also. Thank you all at the George on the Green and compliments to the Chef and his/ her team .
Went to Toby carvery. 2 hour wait. Drove 5 minutes down the road. Food here is great. Young team really good. Location is really pretty. And really great service. Definitely coming back
Had a very nice meal here today, my steak was a little tough and sinewy but my wife's Monkfish was excellent. All of the food was well cooked, hot and tasty and the staff were very good. We will return.
Pleasant village pub on the green. We stopped for lunch. Good choice menu and food was prompt and tasty. 3 cask ales on offer and the one tried was excellently conditioned and served. Friendly staff.
Went today with husband and even though were busy found us a table after a short wait. Extremely friendly, helpful and attentive staff. The food was delicious, good size portions and piping hot highly recommend and will definitely be back
Lovely village pub atmosphere, tasty food. Lots of parking, friendly staff. Worth a visit for a pub lunch, inside or outside on the beer garden.
What are the two most important things about eating out? Great food and great service, outstanding on both counts. The best roast beef gravy I have ever tasted!
Perched on the end of Holyport green The George is in a great location. The interior is tastefully decorated in a modern style while still keeping the feel of a village pub. The staff were friendly and polite and very prompt with their service. They have a nice beer garden around the side of the pub and enjoyed a nice ale and simple chicken pate lunch. The chicken pate was very tasty and accompanying bread was freshly toasted and still warm. It was a lovely lunch under the sun and I’ll definitely be back to sample other dishes from a varied and tasty looking menu.
Visited today on a recommendation from a friend …. What a lovely looking pub. We were greeted by smiley and courteous staff and everything felt right about this pub and restaurant. I had the fish cake stater, best I’ve ever had and my wife had the prawns …. best she’s ever had apparently, nice. The main course was the surf and turf, the steak which you cannot see in the photo as it’s hidden under the scampi, was succulent and very well cooked. What really impressed me was the salad served with the S&T and my fish cake as this was a pleasant change to the limp, unimaginative salads so often served in less attentive establishments. We will be back with family and friends and I suggest you pay The George on the Green a visit, soon ….Mick & Georgina from Chertsey, Surrey.
