Great hotel, the outside does look old and kinda weather worn. But inside is excellent and rooms are nice clean and modern. Staff are super helpful and makes things so much easier. Can't wait to see the place after the make over. Can't recommend enough
This hotel was once a wonderful place. Until covid and it became a HMO for immigrants.nIt was a place where locals would host parties and events but that ship has long sailed and it has gained a really negative reputation and has been let go into disrepair.nLocals are actually really sad about what has happened to this hotel.nnThe carpet... please replace this ASAP, I have never seen a carpet so filthy.nnWe had the best room apparantly. . It was clean and tidy and had clearly been modernised but there was a smell like fresh sewerage and it was nasty. The lift also smells of damp, it was apprant as there are car fresheners hanging in there.nnBreakfast - felt like it was back in the 90s, despite being free there are aome things I would change.nCooked breakfast was nice, toast, cereal, tea, coffee, juice, warm yoghurts. Only apples and oranges no bananas. But it was dated, the whole setup is dated. Like they are trying to make up for something.nnThe damp issue with the building does need to be rectified and I would rate the hotel currently as a 2 star max.nnCar parking could be made more brighter, a lick of paint would help also make the area feel safer. Maybe a gate to the parking area would also be beneficial. It is an ideal area for a crime to be committed so be careful. CCTV.nnThe reception staff are good. Young lady blonde hair very kind and courteous. The guy on the desk wasn't all that helpful blamed the smell on the 'sani flo' which i dont believe and handed me a bottle of air freshener.nnOverall Barrow is a lovely town, plenty to offer if given aome TLC. It use to be booming years ago, however it has slipped into a negative cycle.nHowever the people here are the friendliest I have met.
The hotel was really comfortable. The rooms were clean and I had a good night’s sleep. The only issue that I had was at breakfast. There was no written record of the breakfast service times. Although this may have been stated during check in, this is a lot of information to take in at once and I would expect this information to be printed somewhere. I arrived at the breakfast room around 5 to 9 and the staff informed me that I was too late to have a cooked breakfast, because the breakfast service time was between 7-9 am.nThis was slightly disappointing. I felt that it was misleading for the hotel to advertise a breakfast as included in the room cost when they make excuses not to fulfill their offer.nWhether the staff were technically correct in enforcing the breakfast times or not, their pedantic attitude and the lack of information that is made available to customers demonstrates poor customer service and detracted from my enjoyment and my impression of the company.nI was also disappointed that there was no filter coffee available at breakfast, only instant coffee.
We stayed for a weekend at this hotel. It looks like a work in progress with scaffolding to the while front of the hotel. Molly was on duty to check us in and she was very friendly and professional. The communal areas are still in need of modernisation but our room was spotless. The room was a good size with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was very nice, lots of cereals and fruits and the cooked to order full english was perfect. The hotel is a short walk from the town centre and we will definitely stay again. Ian checked us out and again was very friendly and professional, our deposit was back in our bank account a few days later.
There is no escaping the fact that externally and internally the hotel looks a mess as it's going through renovation. The common areas are not great, but understandably so. That said, the welcome, the service and the comfort of the room and great breakfast for free more than made up for it. Special mention to the breakfast team, really friendly, helpful and nothing too much trouble.
