Considering it was a busy Saturday evening, we got quick service and found somewhere to sit. However, the reason for the four stars is that they didn't have half the menu available and let us order something, not in stock. They were apologetic and resolved the issue quickly, so I can't say anything terrible overall.
We arrived about 18:15 on a Friday night and the place was PACKED with a lot of young adults {university city fortunately we managed to grab a table off some men just leaving. We were grabbing food before going across to City Hall for a concert at 19:30. Food was ordered on a mobile by my friend. I've dropped a star because I'm vegetarian and the choice was limited and scattered across the menu and not particularly easy to find. I ended up with the Vegetarian All Day Brunch 2 eggs, 3 Quorn sausages, beans and chips all got and the eggs were perfect and not over done. It took a good 20 minutes for the food and drinks to arrive clock watching because of the concert any other time, not really a problem, though I really needed a drink, that could've come sooner. The place was loud, you were almost shouting to be heard and repeating yourself because of not being heard happened a lot. No complaints really. If I was 30+ years younger the place is brilliant. I'd say not for the over 50s who want a drink and a chat or a cheap meal before a concert. £9+change for food + a Pepsi excellent value for money. I don't blame Benjamins for it not being for me at 59 but the menu on the other hand . . .
When we arrived no one came to hand us a menu, they just walked away and went back to serve behind the bar, if they had given us a menu we would have felt more welcome and attended to and we could have chosen our food when they went back to the bar. Tables not cleaned whole time I was there had finger marks and sauce stains on my table from previous user. Had to send back an order as came without cheese on my chips, had ordered cheesy chips. No one came round to check if everything was ok. Quite a dark and dismal decor too, which is why I give it a 3 star review.
It is a weatherspoons so it is not the best place to go for lunch or dinner, but the breakfast is quite good for that price. Also it has lots of different alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks which have a great price for a pub. You can also use the app to get the order to your table without going and wait in the queue. From multiple wheterspoons that I have been into, I prefer this one, having 2 levels, and a great outside terrace to enjoy a drink with your friends at a quite nice price. The service is also good, the staff is polite and serve the food and drinks at a quite fast speed. You do not have to wait too much to be served. Will surely come back more often to enjoy the drinks with my friends.
I Had an awful meal there today. I ordered steak I couldn't get my knive through it. It was very fatty. The mashed potato was instant. The only decent thing about it was was the onion rings... Very poor me and my boyfriend won't be returning. Don't go there!!!.....
Cheap drinks, cheap food, great atmosphere. If you're not one to enjoy really busy places then this isn't for you but if that doesn't bother you then this place is a great place to get a drink and have a bite to eat.
Great place for a reasonably priced lunch with work colleagues. Service was fast and efficient and staff were courteous and polite. They even popped over to the table to ask if our meals were OK. Give it a go, you'll not be disappointed if you want no frills standard pub grub
A bit of a run of the mill spoons. Decent location to grab a quick one. And some colourful characters for sure. Everything else is as you expect. You either have to go splunking or climb to the highest room of the tallest tower to go to the toilet.
Great pub with excellent choice of beers. Large inside area and plenty of seating. Typical pub menu for this chain and cooked really well too.
Good for inexpensive drinks, and socialising with a drink. Can get very busy and maybe too loud for some people. Great for students, football fans they put matches up on projector, and perhaps a place to start your night out.
