A very cozy place with a good range of delicious food with reasonable prices. I feel like I'm at my grandma's house each time when I'm there. Family friendly, dog friendly and easily accessible for wheelchair users too. Worth spending time in after long walks in Peak District
We called in following a walk around Padley Gorge with a pre-booked table for eight adults and eight children. Menu was very varied with and abit more different to what you'd usually find in pub menus. I had the Kofte Kebab which was lovely, and the portion sizes were generous, average price per main course was £16, not to bad in my opinion considering the quality of the food. There's a great selection of beers, ciders and real ales - mainstream ales, but you know what your getting. Staff were excellent, considering we rocked up up with eight ankle biters who were soaked to the bone , and was quite happy for us to dry their socks on the radiators. - Apologies to the other punters for the smell of damp socks! All in all we had a great afternoon at the Fox House and would definitely call in again .
Amazing country style pub in the middle of the countryside. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon, after a walk around Longshaw which is just over the road from The Fox House, great place to come after a visit to the estate. The interior of the restaurant/inn remained very much untouched and kept it's exposed wooden beams stretching across ceilings and cosy fireplaces scattered throughout. I was greeted and was told there was space at the bar and restaurant area, I chose the restaurant area as I was planning on ordering food. That being said, I don't think you have to sit in the restaurant area if you want food as the bar area still had tables and chairs set up. The menu was very appealing and I was left plenty of time to decide what I wanted, I also had a flick through the drinks menu that was on each table. I noticed that their drinks menu read a lot like a Miller & Carter drinks menu, in that they had quite similar/identical drink items. A little google search and you'll find that both Vintage Inns and Miller & Carter restaurants are owned by the same company, if you've been to M&C then you'd know this is a good sign! I opted for a blueberry house soda, never a disappointment. As for food I went with the oven-baked Paris brown & button mushrooms on toasted sourdough. Absolutely amazing starter, the mushrooms were clearly fresh as they were really flavourful and perfectly prepared. The cheddar & garlic sauce it had poured all over was beautiful, especially with the light drizzle of truffle infused oil. 10/10 My main was off the Lunch part of the menu, this is only available between 12pm-5pm Mondays to Saturdays, FYI. I decided on The Bloody Mary salmon fishcakes, you get two fishcakes along with a poached egg, tenderstem broccoli and a smothering of hollandaise. Each and every part of this dish was perfect, the fishcakes were very tasty, along with the broccoli which was not too soft nor too crunchy. The poached egg was expertly done, the yolk was superb, and the hollandaise sauce went well with everything on the plate. I planned on getting a dessert as they all sounded equally as appetising as the rest of the menu but time got the best of me and I had to leave. I'd fully recommend a visit here, better yet, a stay here. As nice as the food, service and ambience was, their prices were on the higher side I'd say. You are paying that little extra for what you get though, amazing food in an amazing place. I certainly hope it's not too long until I find myself back at The Fox House.
Really lovely country pub but only 20 mins drive from central Sheffield. Food was delicious, staff friendly and helpful. Nice that they have a separate bar area if you just want a drink. Beautiful location a winter wonderland this weekend and they very kindly let us park our van in the car park overnight. We hope to return in the summer to properly enjoy the views
Came here for my birthday Meal. Staff and food spot on cannot fault it. Great staff especially the lovely John who looked after us throughout. Definitely will be back VERY soon. Thank you so much for making our night a memorable one. Matthew & Louise Blackburn
Had a very enjoyable Valentine's Day meal. All the meals were very good with good sized portions. The stand out was the pork belly ' excellent Also great to a have a choice beer rather than just the fizzy stuff. Very friendly and excellent service
Wonderful venue. 4 of us booked for Sunday lunch on 5th March 2023. Great food, served really efficiently and we didn't have to wait. The team that looked after us is the real game changer for The Fox House. Exceptionally attentive, very polite and professional and friendly and clearly, they enjoy what they do which shines through. A great experience and can't wait to do it all again. Thank you!
Stayed here for just one night but would love to have stayed a week! Expansive carpark with views to match and good accesibility to the surrounding moorland for walkers etc. We had a beautiful room, oak beams an' all that and the bed was the best I can recall in any hotel we have stayed. We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday, which for non UK readers can be a v - e - r - y busy day in a good pub. We had booked beforehand which was as well because the restaurant was at full capacity throughout the afternoon and later on. The bar was great - with decent cask beer too. Menu and the food was super for me as I like veggie and a good puddin' too. Breakfast menu is really varied and as good a brekker as I ever had anywhere. The staff - simply superb. Really well trained, confident and competent, with a friendly attitude. I would recommend this Inn/restaurant/hotel/bar to everyody and I look forward to another visit - soon.
Great location, tasty food and an okay range of drinks including hot drinks. The service at the bar is slow and there isn't much space to stand/queue at the bar without standing on people at tables. You also have to get through the bar queue and climb around tables to go to the toilet which can be awkward when it's busy. There is a lot of outside space though, with a range of tables and a beautiful view
Basic. A lovely dog-friendly pub that is perfect after a long walk. However, I did struggle with the lack of vegetarian options. I ended up choosing a basic veggie burger and fries for £15. Although nice, I feel like I could have got the same in Whetherspoons for less. Did I want an £8 pudding? No, thank you. Staff were friendly and service was great. A good selection of drinks in the menu and I’m sure the outdoor seating will be lovely in the summer.
