Family pub serving hearty meals. It was busy when we visited definitely worth booking ahead and they warned us there would be a wait for the food. But it was warm and comfortable with pretty decorations, so we relaxed and enjoyed our drinks. When the food arrived it was great, with huge portions I couldn’t eat all of mine and good fresh vegetables. Left feeling contented.
More than fish & chips. Lunch & dinner served at this country pub. Seating inside & outside in the fresh air. Yorkshire pudding pictured below - tasted great and filled me up. Plenty of great English beers - some made down the road - and the lunch specials are great. Party / events room for large groups. Great stop for hikers, bikers & tourists as well as locals.
Fantastic country pub. Amazing views from the beer garden. Excellent carvery with the most generous serving of meat ever! The staff are great and the pub is dog friendly. They have a small bar outside near the beer garden which is handy as it gets very busy on a weekend. They have a good sized car park but it does fill up very quickly and the surrounding streets can get a bit tight as people park on the roadside. Overall, a brilliant country pub, well worth a visit... Especially after hiking one of the many routes in the area!
Absolutely gorgeous. The staff, the food the roaring fire. Had a thoroughly lovely time. My only constructive criticism is that the phone constantly rings and the staff are so busy they can't answer it. They are prioritising, quite rightly, the customers at the bar . It would be helpful to turn the ringer down just to stop the persistent loud ring as it did get irritating. Other than that though it was fab and we will go back.
Nice Thwaites pub with beautiful beer garden views across the local valley. Arrived at 11:30 on Sunday. We hadn't booked, although thankfully we were offered a table until 1pm. Friendly staff and chain food at reasonable prices. MySteak & Onion Cheese Melt sandwich was delicious, with a huge piece of rump steak and beautiful home made chips. My steak was a little gristley, although for the price I can't complain. My partner had the Philli Steak, which was an equally generous portion. Will definitely return soon
Lovely food, very generous main meal portion sizes, staff very friendly and helpful and despite the pub being busy staff were able to find us a table.
Beautiful view from the garden. Perfect stop for hikers I hear the food is nice too but if you want to sit inside I'd book a table in advance as all the tables was reserved.
Fabulous food and great friendly staff. Lots of GF options. Excellent value for money.
Went here as a family of 5 adults and a baby for Sunday lunch today. What a lovely friendly pub this is. The food was lovely and fresh and piping hot. We will definitely return, as we were leaving 2 of the waitresses were having a little jig to the Christmas tunes. How refreshing to see staff happy and enjoying their jobs despite being extremely busy. Looking forward to our next visit
Excellent lunch. Great value! Tasty. Excellent service and great views if you sit outside.
