The Hub Alehouse & Kitchen

About

If you’re looking for an establishment that combines the buzz of a city centre bar with the friendly feel of a rural gastropub, then The Hub Alehouse and Kitchen is the place for you.

Story

True to its name, this welcoming grade-II-listed pub is a hub for the local community and visitors alike, and its close proximity to the city’s shops and attractions makes The Hub popular with visitors enjoying all the delights that Liverpool has to offer. Inside, the decor is a unique blend of the modern and the traditional, and offers plenty to look at while you’re enjoying a pint – there is an impressive copper brewing vessel sitting by the bar, and the traditional copper pots, pans and cooking utensils hanging from the ceiling contrast with modern, chunky wooden furniture.

The home-cooked fare on offer at The Hub is made using the best ingredients sourced from local suppliers in the city, as well as from farms across Cheshire. The lunch and dinner menus offer everything from light bites, pizzas and nibbles to classic pub dishes and innovative mains. The delicious fish pie, the ever-popular braised oxtail and the fantastic 16oz T-bone steak will delight even the most discerning foodies, and are even better when enjoyed with one of The Hub’s well-chosen wines, cask ales or classic cocktails. To finish, try the sherry fruit trifle with hundreds and thousands – it’s one of the many traditional puddings available at The Hub, and is a real treat for diners with a sweet tooth. Those with a more savoury palate will love the rustic cheeseboard, which features, among others, the delicious Mrs Appleby’s Cheshire Red and the Owd Timer Lancashire.

Mixed feelings with this one. Good menu reasonably priced. Starting with the drinks order - I ordered rum with a bit of coke no ice and got rum with a full half pint of coke with ice, I asked them to remove the ice which they did and returned 5 minutes later. 2 Adults 3 Children... The children's meals were average, they were happy so all OK on that front. I ordered steak - medium with a sauce and my son ordered a different steak medium - rare with a different sauce. His was a little over done but mine was rare bordering on blue in the middle - I had to send it back, I've never had to do this... I don't mid a little over or under but I just couldn't eat this. The staff were very apologetic and had it re-fired for me - 10 minutes later the same steak came back well done and burnt on the outside... not happy but tried it as I didn't want to send it back again - I couldn't eat it as it was very bitter so I just ate the chips and mushroom. The manager apologised and took it off the bill but I would rather not have had that experience. The staff were very good and bent over backwards to help - if it we'rent for them I would probably have given a 1 or 2. Deserts were great and highly recommended. I will go back as I always like to give a second chance
Again, as it seems to be a Liverpoolian tradition, the service is excellent. Such a nice, welcoming staff who try their best to serve customers. Food was good and the restaurant has a lot of room to offer. It's located near Liverpool One, so a good place to be for shopping freaks in particular
My favourite place for a good meal and drink in the UK. We have been here twice now, just recently and in 2014 and it does not disappoint. The service and food quality is excellent.
Great atmosphere and awesome selection of beer and food dishes!! Jes was our server and was really awesome!!! She was sooo knowledgeable of the cask ales available and the dishes offered were unique and very tasty.
Right in the center of town. Got served immediately breakfast, food came scarily quick and it tasted lovely. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed a Saturday afternoon meal after shopping. Food was good and a decent selection of beers to choose from.
