Just had the nicest 5 night stay with Noreen and the team at The High Flyer. I really can't say a bad thing about it. We were given the warmest welcome, a lovely room and it stayed that way throughout the week. The food is absolutely beautiful. Carvery at weekend is amazing and the slow roasted lamb was to die for. Thank you again for looking after us! Xx
Outstanding. Clean environment, good quality food, good service. Resident dog gives good cuddles. Chocolate fudge cake could have been slightly bigger, but truly truly outstanding food. Loved it and will be back. What a gem!!!!!
Our experience of the High Flyer was a mixed bag. I'll start with the positives. The carvery was excellent and reasonably priced. There was plenty of choice of meat and sides. For this aspect alone we will probably give it another try. Free carparking outside is a bonus. The negatives are mostly focused around service and organisation. We booked our table weeks in advance and turned up punctually. We were then advised there were no tables and we should go to the bar for a drink. Over 30 minutes later we are finally seated. I'd expect this if we hadn't booked ahead but we had so we were very disappointed. The service was a mixed experience, some of the staff were much more personable than others. One particular lady saved the day with her excellent humour and service. However, the staff generally were not attentive possibly due to the table mismanagement as noted above. We will be giving the High Flyer another visit in the future as this could have been a one-off negative experience.
Best roast I've had in a restaurant in years. £13.50 all you can eat sides. I ordered the veggie Wellington and you can help yourself to everything else. Carrots, parsnips, Yorkshire, stuffing, sausages, roasties, mash, leaks, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, green cabbage, boiled carrots. Full to the brim. We visited prime time on a Sunday and ate outside as fullbooked. Preferred it as it was quite. They come to get you when it's your turn to go up so you don't have to stand and queue. Free parking. Vegan options. Parking: Free parking Wheelchair accessibility: Disabled toilet by the main entrance Dietary restrictions: Vegan options
Awful experience. The beer was good but that’s were it ended. Starters were shocking. Ordered a Camembert “sharer”. Was only big enough for one person. The caramel chicken was bizarre, small bits of chicken in a sweet caramel sauce you’d expect to find on ice cream. It was awful. Mains came out in drabs after about a 45 minute wait. Half the table were nearly finished by the time everyone received their mains. Not a single bit of steak was cooked how we asked them to. Sides missing, gammon missing then replaced with slices of wafer thin sandwich ham, an insult really. None of the food represented the prices they charge. Won’t be looking to return
Great food and brilliant service. We went with 2 young children but it is suitable for all. We will definitely go back and recommend to friends and family. We had a carvery and the children had a children's meal from the menu, it was all delicious and very high quality. The staff were very friendly, great with the kids and even the chef came out for a chat with us which pleased the children.
Lovely food and always is. Even my assistant dog got his favourite dish. But just took too long to get served. Dietary restrictions: My meal was vegan. Very delicious
Made to feel really welcome. Very nice room with enormous TV. Big shower room. Very comfy bed and lovely duvet. We had a meal there too and that was great. Recommend the salmon and the carvery. The waiting staff really made the whole experience. Will definitely visit again.
We came for lunch yesterday and were very impressed with the changes since our last visit. From the warm welcome on arrival to the attentive service throughout it was a lovely atmosphere. Our food was first rate. Ellie was our waitress and she was extremely professional and my wife and I did compliment her. We will return for another meal.
Stayed on Boxing Day evening. Everything was lovely for us. Food and drink nice. Reasonable priced. Room was very nice. Very clean. Cosy and comfortable. The only thing I did notice that they did seem very short stuff. The owner seemed to being doing everything. Would definitely go back.
