At 37 weeks pregnant, in need of an urgent appointment I was forced to tell the doctors secretary (who sounds about 18) the very personal details of my issue in order for her to arrange a call not an appointment, a call, from the doctor - I had to ring back again a second time to make this call back request. She didn't understand what I was trying to say to her (suggested I call the labour ward?!), had ZERO empathy and was very rude. Tip to the surgery - a young girl should not be a doctors secretary if she is going to ask personal questions on a subject she couldn't possibly have any understanding of, or the experience to show empathy. When you register it takes 2 weeks to get you on the system, if you need an appointment before then you have to go in and fill in yet more forms and take your ID with you to attempt to get an emergency appointment, which, for this doctors surgery are seemingly comparible with giving away ones own mother.

I’m 32 weeks pregnant and couldn’t even get an appointment for a personal emergency issue, as they had no female doctor or nurse who could see me and would have to wait till next week. Receptionist was quite rude all in all useless

The Hessle Grange Medical Practice must be the worst doctor's surgery in the whole world in terms of service and patient care! The appointment system simply sucks! When you ring for an appointment it is always fully booked and if you try to book in advance for the next few days, the surgery will tell you to ring the next day at exactly 9am. Now when you try at 9am the next day, usually it is about 9:05am before you can get through because of others ringing in at the same time, the surgery will tell you it is full and NO, you can't book anything in advance and so you'll have to ring the next day at exactly 9am! It goes without saying that in the end you'll get nowhere and you'll still be without an appointment this time next year! This ridiculous booking process is as useless as it is pointless and extremely stressful. This is like a frantic sick dog chasing its tail endlessly in the park for no reason! It seems like the surgery don't want you to see a doctor and so make it impossible for you to see one! The surgery needs to get into their thick skull that people simply don't suddenly decide or plan to fall ill just before 9am on the day in order to ring at 9am! Why give people such a ridiculously small window of only at "exactly 9am" to book whilst your website says otherwise which is you can book from 9am to 6pm! You either have an appointment system or NOT! Since the former doesn't work why don't you do the latter and simply let people turn up and wait in a queuing system. The surgery's totally unworkable approach to booking an appointment is almost inhumane, absolutely appalling and unjust to say the least, it is like we're still living in the stone-age era where there are no doctors! You should make it easier to access doctors and NOT harder! In that case why waste all our tax payers money in the building, paying the doctors and admin staff tens of thousand of pounds, and whatever happens to patient care and patient charter, doctors spend years practicing medicine, patient care with the ultimate aim to make patients' life better, BUT all these mean nothing if you can't see a doctor! So, you can't even pass the very first hurdle of getting an appointment to see the doctor let alone having the chance for him to diagnose and cure you! How pathetic is that! Now, this is simply WRONG and totally UNACCEPTABLE in this day and age. You'll have a better chance of winning the lotto than gaining an appointment for your GP and that is an understatement! It would be quicker and easier to see a doctor in the third world such as Africa! If you could rate the surgery out of a million, I'll still give it zero out of a million for service and patient care! What a sorry state this surgery is in, absolutely terrible, disgusting, appalling, unprofessional, good for nothing, and waste of space surgery this is! If I could sum up in a sentence about the surgery, it would be this: The Hessle Grange Medical Practice is ABSOLUTELY AND TOTALLY UNFIT FOR PURPOSE and the staff are totally incompetent!
