Very busy pub, 8 of us chose the Flaming Grills Challenge 25 per cent off Fridays, booked ahead of arriving, when we ordered the food due to a large party told it would be approx 1hr till it came to the table, might be worth baring in mind, large variety of meals and deals on various nights along with OAP specials, I ordered the Ultimate Platter to share, The Big Mexican minus the very hot Scorpian Sauce, so be warned and Sticky Toffee pudding, no complaints from the Group who had several different meals off the menu, only criticism appeared to be understaffed, although the bar staff and waitresses were very helpful and polite, definitely worth another visit
Beautiful place with an amazing selection of food Vegan fish and chips is delicious! staff are always so lovely and helpful and the food is always absolutely spot on shout out to the lass with the blue hair, really helpful when we awkwardly ordered three Hunters chickens all different, one with no BBQ, one with no cheese and one normal. Cannot fault the place, always perfect!
It was the first time I'd been here and I enjoyed my visit. We went for a family meal and the food was really nice. Unfortunately the children's play area was closed, which the children weren't too happy about, but I'm guessing there was a good reason for it. All in all it was a nice time.
We went last week they didn't have anything we wanted on the menu including desserts , no signs up mentioning limited menu , partner ordered steak to be well done and it came with blood all over his plate had to be sent back and then came and asked if he wanted it putting in microwave or a fresh one ? Ended up getting refunded for the steak but for nothing else to say we couldn't have what we wanted in the first place I've emailed the address you told me to contact and heard nothing back ??
I see this pub is under new management at present, there were lots of improvements already to the way the staff dealt with our order. They were friendlier then on previous visits. The atmosphere was good however the only thing to spoil our visit was the dog that tried to bite me as I walked by luckily I had long boots on and they protected my leg however had this been a child they would have been injured. A public house especially one that serves food is no place for dogs. I believe this could cost you dearly in the future, which is a shame because the new management team seem to be very good for the place.
Visited today for a family meal. I didn't want to create a scene so didn't complain but would like to put on here the faults. I work myself in a pub so know the dos and don'ts. Firstly my son booked a table so when we arrived we where told where we were seated for 5 mins later another member of staff to march up to us and abruptly say this table is reserved.. I replied I know it was reserved for us we booked. She turned away with no apology. Where we sat it was cold. Food arrived and chips was cold. My son ordered a mixed grill and his steak was cooked more like well done and not medium rare like he asked. My grandsons mashed potato resembled play do and ate off our plates. No staff member came and did a table check. And when our plates where cleared the staff member didn't even look at us never mind talk. Very disappointing.
The quality of the food was poor. The steak and ale pie was presented as a proper pie, but the crusts were thick and the filling insufficient. The lasagne was baked into a hard crust in the bottom of the dish and again the quantity was insufficient. Will not go back again
It’s been a long time since we’ve visited the pub, have to say how hugely disappointing it was. The pub is looking really tired and very dirty all the tables were sticky having not been cleaned properly. The bar staff were very helpful but under great pressure we were told our meal would take 35 mins but it actually took near enough an hour the food arrived over cooked not good. My granddaughter and I went to the only ladies toilet available and they were both blocked and disgustingly dirty. Totally disappointing and will not be returning sorry!!!!!!
We went here for the first time in 10 years it had really gone down hill back then and have to say it was again very disappointing. Despite it saying all day food we arrived at 4pm and had to wait an hour for the food to start being served, this we didn't mind too much, but the glasses were very dirty, the bread was stale and came with no butter, the fish was over fried and didnt look good and the burgers were practically black! We tried to find a waitress but there was only one behind the bar and it was pretty busy so we didn't bother with desert and left. Sadly I don't think we will be returning.
Most recent 2 experiences just awful. Extremely slow service and then when the food arrived both times it was either cold or burnt or of poor quality. A real shame since used to enjoy it here. Upon complaining we were offered free desert next time we came...which we won't be.
