Havent been for years but had some friends over Sunday so thought would try- rang to see if they could fit 4 of us in and explained we had a dog - yes no problem- so we walked from town centre - maybe a mile plus, only to be turned away by the same girl i spoke to on the phone half an hour earlier! She claimed she never heard me ask about the dog - I have no problem with the policy and the food may well be good but let down by poor staff/communication We had then to walk back into town in rain and hungry….
I visited the Molescroft Inn over the August Bank Holiday weekend with my eldest son. We had a drink and evening meal. The service and food was excellent. Staff were polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend this pub which is full of charm reflecting it's history.
Lovely warm place very welcoming staff cant do enough for and the food was delicious .
Only stayed for a quick drink but the Jennings Cumberland was lovely. Photo of menu is here.
We arrived 5 minutes before time for our reservation but had to wait while they moved people to get our table of 8 together. Not a real problem. We ordered our meals and just chatted while they arrived. All seemed OK except, one meal was missing 2 fried eggs. They apologised but only brought 1. Upon inspection of the fried egg the white was still raw! The 2nd egg they brough was not much better. 2 of us had mixed grills £17+ the meat was ok, the steak was cooked just right but both of us left our onion rings they just tasted of the oil they where cooked in or soaked in. We have eaten here over many years and never had such a poor meal. We did wait for someone to come and talk to us but no one bothered and this is why I have penned this review. Sorry, but if you know of a complaint but don't even have the courtesy to come and talk then this is what happens.
Really good food and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend but advise booking.
Have had really good food here in the past but the steak pie was really disappointing when we visited a few weeks ago. The place was cold and quiet on a Sunday lunch time?
Great food, friendly service, cosy pub. Loved the option of skin on, or skin off the large haddock. I like it skin on. Phenomenal fish, really fresh, lovely batter. Generous portions. A really nice touch was that bread & butter was included. Better than any fish I've eaten in York my home town. Loved it!
Visiting family and decided to book for us all, fantastic food steak and ale pie 10/10 can’t wait to be back down and try something else well worth a visit guys
Went for Lunch yesterday,3 of us. Ordered three meals and one meal the beef was really dry and the rice was the same. I used the gents toilet and the floor was all sticky! When I came out into the pub I could feel my footwear sticking to the Floor!!!! The part of the pub where we sat and had our meals had a problem with Flies!!!!! Never again!!!!
