Given the amount of stick some GP surgeries get, I wanted to say a big thank you to Gold Street Surgery. I realised that the medication that helps with my tremor had not been put in my dosett boxes and lack of them had caused me to shake uncontrollably. I sent 2 messages to the Surgery in the early hours of Friday morning one outlining the issue and another to get it prescribed. It said messages may not be responded to for several days. On Saturday morning they arrived through my letterbox! Thank you to everyone at Gold Street Surgery especially the secretaries and Dr Brown who must have been straight on the case , as well as Pillsorted who processed the prescription and sent out the medication. Our NHS at its best. Once again thank you.
Sometimes reviews only show negative feedback but my experience has been very positive. I rang this morning at 8am and after explaining my symptoms was given a 9.30 appointment, I was initially seen by 2 very professional students and then Dr Boyce and my experience could not have been better or more positive
Not worth one star. Appalling lack of care on every level possible.nnNo available appointments yet the waiting room has absolutely no one in it.nPhones ring off the hook continuously.nPrescriptions are wrong, not available or takes weeks to get.nGPs are either rude or indifferent depending on who you are 'lucky' enough get to see. The frequent 'training days' where the surgery is closed and patients needing help are told to go to A&E are beyond a joke.nSuch poor care can't all be blamed on lack of resources it's becoming the go to excuse for Doctors that can't be bothered to do their job except of course if you're paying them privately.nThey should be ashamed.
I’ve had some really stressful and unpleasant experiences with this practice.nnOver the past two years I was trying to get an appropriate to get assessed for IBS like issues. I was told to that the only way to get an appointment was via the app which are released at 7am. I tried every day for months but nothing and when I called up was told they could book me an advance appointment. In one phone call the receptionist proceeded to tell me to get some over the counter medication which I felt was unethical. Why would you suggest medication when you are not medically trained and have no idea what the actual diagnosis is? It’s really irresponsible. After months of trying I finally got a telephone appointment and the GP didn’t call back. When I rang up they said the GP would call back later and I was still waiting by the phone at 7pm. After arguing again over the phone they did eventually rebook it. It was early morning - so probably the first appointment of the day. The GP didn’t ring again and I had already wasted a lot of time taking leave from work for these appointments. I called them up and the receptionist had no idea where the GP was and said maybe they were just caught up in traffic or late to work and then hung up on me.nnAfter this I went private because it had been over a year without being seen and I was really suffering.nnI’ve also since needed a dieticians appointment and have never been able to get one of these either. I now just don’t bother and like many other just suffer through whatever I’m going through hoping it’ll get better on its own.
Recently requested a repeat prescription which appeared as rejected on the NHS app. Phoned reception at Gold St to understand why and they said I’d need a consultation to discuss as I hadn’t been prescribed the meds by this doctor before, which I understood.nnWhile booking in for the consultation, I had my personal details inc. address, phone number, meds and medical conditions all repeated back to me loudly for everyone in the waiting room to hear rather than being asked to repeat myself if the receptionist didn’t hear. Followed up via email to complain that I wasn’t happy about my details being read aloud and had absolutely nothing back, not even an acknowledgment.nnHad the telephone consultation 2 weeks later, which I took time off work for and was told during the consultation the prescription had been sent through. Nobody from the surgery bothered to contact me to say it had gone through, so I was waiting 2 weeks for medication when I could have been made aware sooner and picked it up. Complete waste of mine and Doctors’ time.
