It was one of the rare days when my husband and I were able to treat ourselves to a full English breakfast in a lovely historic building. When we arrived, there was no feeling of welcome or excitement. A staff member pointed out the directions without explaining what to do next. We chose a table by the window and sat there, waiting for someone to take our order. As it was our first time there, we didn't realize that you had to go to the bar to order food, as no one explained that to us. We sat there for quite a while, looking at each other and wondering if they were even aware of our presence.nnAfter we finally figured it out and ordered breakfast, the pot of tea arrived, along with the cutlery. However, I had never seen such dirty cups, saucers, and cutlery. My husband went to the bar to ask for a replacement, but even then, it wasn't up to the standard you'd expect from a place where you're dining.nnWe finished our food, but the anticipated joy of spending time in the beautiful place was ruined by the complete lack of attention from the staff and the dirty cups, saucers, and cutlery. As I mentioned before, it was our first time, and it will definitely be our last.
Avoid the food here. They have loads of crap ghost kitchens operating from their one pub kitchen, including Mighty Burger.nAwful, awful food. Poor quality. Tried several times, every time ingredients were missing, and the food didn't match the description or photos.nThis kind of scummy practise is just shameful. If your chefs can't even build a simple burger with a few toppings, you may as well give up now.nShameful scamming the public with ghost kitchens.nThey also don't provide any contact details for the ghost restaurants.nCall the Goddard directly with complaints.
This place is a delight but staff members like Brandon make it a place you want to return to....nnMy colleagues chose to come to The Goddard Arms for drinks after our Christmas meal and not only did Brandon provide top tier service but he was polite, funny, joined in on our jokes and continues to be an all round wonderful member of staff!nnHe deserves every ounce of praise and I will be back again following this wonderful service!! All the other staff seemed motivated and committed to delivering great service but Brandon was a sweetheart with a beautiful smile!nnThanks Goddard Arms! - Samuel Poseidon Bond.
I love this place - one of if not the best pub in Swindon. We are long time customers at this pub and always feel welcome here. Will was our server and really attentive, friendly and helpful to our needs. Lately we’ve noticed the vibe has really improved so really happy about that!
Came in on the 3rd September and I usually come in for breakfast with me and my colleagues and usually it is really nice and we always come in due to that but we've been in the last couple of days and it has been disgusting sorry to say the service was great but there seemed to be no care what so ever in the food or presentation. Usually the chef comes out and asks how the food is but haven't seen him, and when he is in doing the breakfast it is no complaints so dunno if your chef has left or not working but the food in the last dew days has been not up to standards to the point we left the food . Hope this can get sorted as we do enjoy the pub and the service and food when it is done correctly and on time . Many thanks
