Katie runs a amazing farm with self catered accommodation along with a bed and breakfast. We stayed in the self catered orchard cottage. It was beautiful waking up to the peacock's and the chickens. All of whom are personalities in their own right. My son loved every bit of it. The TV was as useful as a door stop as it was not even used during the trip as opposed to it being used all the time. The peacock's got individually named, so did the hens, and the geese and the pigs. He had such a fun time it was amazing. For us parent's we didn't have to worry about him roaming around much either. He found some friends as well which made fun during the Easter break. Well worth the stay. We will be back again soon I hope.
I don't do negative reviews, just ones featuring various degrees of positivity, and so consequently I do very few reviews these days! . The fact that I am writing this then, by definition indicates I have something positive to say about the Glyhir Estate; and so I do. A lot. . What a wonderful place. Even in the pouring rain something not seen for a month or two - so welcome it is beautiful in every way. If you like order, straight lines, pristine everything and modern facilities - don't bother, you'll only moan and whinge. If you like the feeling of staying in someone's ancestral home in about 1958 come along. It really is fantastic although of course its someone's not quite ancestral home in 2022, so has the required H&S provisions. . I was met by smiling staff all volunteers from sunnier climes. The room they gave me was amazing: cool, comfortable and without a TV, so I had no option but to listen to the birdsong and admire the natural world hopping and strutting past my window. . The breakfast was brilliant, taken in the dining room around one big family table. I would imagine that when the rooms are full the atmosphere would be most convivial. . Sitting in the lounge in the evening, I could have imagined I'd been transported back to less franetic times ignoring the fact there's a modern TV in the corner and had I brought a bottle of whisky - and packed my tweeds - I would have drank deeply from it whilst thinking of all those that have done so before me; as it was I bought two tins of weak g&t from the shop up the road and made do! I was tempted to put match to tinder in the open fire place, just to seal the deal, but resisted. . Simply lovely. The peace of the place fills your whole self. Its a rare thing these days, real peace, a rare thing indeed. . Thank you all at Glynhir, I shall return.
This was my third visit over the last 25years. I loved this place and therefore kept coming back to it. Unfortunately, the experience is unsatisfactory this time. The lodge we stayed in needed some attention and repairs. The shower controls were temperamental and the kids were not able to use it easily. This meant that we got wet every time they had a shower as we adjusted the controls for them. There was no dishwasher or washing machine at the lodge. The poor birds were thirsty and hungry. We fed and watered them while there. The geese were attacking the poor duck on few occasions and scaring the peacock and her little chicks away. The garden plants were not looked after and were allowed to grow wild. The path to the waterfall was appalling and full of nettles that are guaranteed to get you few times on the way down. And the path was not cleared nor maintained well. There isn't an easy way down to the river for visitors to try some gorge walking. The place could be and was once a great place to stay and needs some investment to bring it up to standard. It seems to be making enough income as it is largely fully booked.
Had a lovely stay in the main house in a very spacious family room. Wandered down to the waterfall and around the grounds. The peacocks were funny and give you your morning call. Breakfast was first class with homemade jams and apple juice from their orchard, who could ask for more. This is a traditional old 17th century manor house so dont expect modern furnishings, it has lots of character and I would definitely recommend it. We will be returning for sure.
Beautiful place around the Estate , animals and amazing flowers that decorated the cottage, we did definitely enjoyed that sceneries. The inside the cottage ,we do belive, that this place need few repairs like the shower temperature didn't work , water was steaming hot and hard to control. Not safe for children. It was old and had bad smell inside , no kitchen washcloth, no toilet paper, no Wi-Fi and no welcome pack. We also had little incident at night so we have been forced to leave that place before our orginal plans and the booking was wasted. So I wish I could recommend this place but unfortunately because of an unusual experiences Im not be able to do that.
Nestled quite a way from the main town of Llandybie, this gorgeous estate offers a host of different cottages for families of all sizes. The location is absolutely gorgeous, with lush countryside all around and the opportunity to explore on foot. The cottages themselves are lovely and cosy, offering an open fire in several. We've been here several times over the years and it's always been a unique experience. Having animals running around makes the experience all the more pleasant, as you really feel as though you've escaped the cities for a while. If you really want to get out and see some of the most beautiful nature scenes, this place cannot be highly recommended enough!
Hello Everybody! Just been in Glynhir. This place ist steeped in history and full of character and the hosts are very welcoming. It is exactly the laid back character of the place that we find so attractive, the relaxed atmosphere, the generous space. Add to that its location within easy reach of beach and mountain and golf course if you are so minded. We recommend this place to everyone who is looking for something special
I stayed with family at Bailiff Cottage on the Glynhir Estate in August 2020. The cottage was poorly cleaned with only 1 tiny fridge for 8 people. No freezer, no dishwasher, no washing machine,no food cupboards for storage, no toilet paper,no scourer,no dishcloth, no welcome pack,no WiFi. The estate is rundown & dilapidated. What an expensive & disappointing holiday.
Up a very isolated road but worth the driveRooms: 4/5
I have spent 2,5 months at this beautiful place. I have lived in the bnb and in the Bailiffs cottage, too and loved both. Gynhir's peace and tranquillity is a must have experience if you are in Carmarthenshire! Hosts are lovely, beds are very comfortable and views are spectacular! What makes it just perfect is that they are able to cater for people with food allergies! 5 star, A+, highly recommend it!
