The Queen of Hoxton

About

East London bar/club and arts venue. Plus rooftop garden with bar & BBQ.

Story

Bar, club and art collective, Queen of Hoxton holds court in the heart of the East End, entertaining her neighbours with a tight programme of music accompanied by a rolling gallery of art installations and photographic exhibitions.

The Queen has been busy keeping London’s music lovers, clubbers, art fiends and hedonists occupied every single night throughout the year. We’ve hosted some of the biggest names on the live music scene such as; The Drums, Gold Panda, The Phenomenal Handclap Band and Roots Manuva, a selection of the world’s best turntablists, and indie club nights promoted by some of the most famous faces you’ll find on TV.

Despite already being one of East London’s most popular venues, the old girl hasn’t let complacency set in and the bar has seen the installation of a brand new Funktion One soundsystem, and the creation of a stunning rooftop garden complete with BBQ kitchen, bar, garden shed bathrooms, fountain, hanging gardens, astroturf and panoramic views over the city of London – the perfect spot for a Mojito in the sunshine.

Quite simply, Queen of Hoxton is the ultimate youth club for the adults of the east side.

‘The Queen of Hoxton is a venue with sound quality to rival any of its type in the country’ (Music News, March 2012)

‘If you ever get a chance to see a show at the Queen of Hoxton for the love of God go! It is a hidden gem of a venue, allowing you to get up close to whoever is performing…’ (Hit The Floor Magazine, September 2011)

I went to a drag brunch at the queen of Hoxton so I didn’t get the full bar experience but let me tell you, I had the most incredible time! It was my first time at a drag brunch and I was nervous but from the moment you get to the door you’re welcomed with a wonderful energy that gets you in the party mood. Our hosts were amazingly bubbly and made it easy to forget we were getting day drunk in the middle of the afternoon. The bottomless booze was VERY bottomless with severs floating around effortlessly ensuring my glass was never empty. The chicken and waffles was great, no notes, would eat again and again. For the sweet waffles the venue kindly and diligently honoured my request for the vegan ice cream. My only complaint is that the “bottomless” sweet waffles were served too late for me to get another round in also, there should be a chocolate option but that’s just me being a chocoholic!. This may have been my first rodeo but it certainly won’t be my last! Thank you Queen of Hoxton for a wonderful birthday.
Really loved the. Drag show. The food was lovely and the hosts too love the bingo!! Around 4pm the rooftop bar got quite busy and the que for food and drinks were really long. See on the photo how long the que is.
I haven't been here since pre-COVID, so it was nice to see it was still open The Rooftop Bar is still a great place to drink in the evening, lots of space, seats and had a nice relaxed atmosphere The Service is a bit hit-n-miss, some staff are friendly, some not so which is a shame Well worth a visit if you're in the area
For the older gals like moi I wasn't sure what I was going to walk into as I am more a person who goes out after work on a Thursday and the last time I went out on a Saturday was horrendous, but actually lots of fun. It is quite secure. Lots of security, lots of checks of stamps, lovely lady who greets you. I wasn't a fan of the uphill battle of the rooftop as there was no lift. When I got up there, it was nice, but didn't do that again. Bar staff were nice, probably could do with more as they are busynot a bad thing. Could be cleaner, but fantastic dj. It's was a mixed crowd and I really enjoyed myself. It's definitely a grab a spirit and go and dance type of place, but that's fine. It's not selling itself as a cocktail bar. Standard prices for area. Give it go. Not everyone dresses up but I think it's still fun to.
Went for a bottomless brunch, the food wasn't great and for a 2 course waffle brunch, you don't even get a full waffle between the two courses the main is half a waffle and the dessert is a quarter of a waffle. The brunch itself was a lot of fun and the acts were great, but I probably wouldn't go again due to the food.
Took me right back to student union days! A fiver £5 to get in and they don't allow drinks on the rooftop but the vibes were great fun. Good music selection and several different rooms to explore. The drinks were cheap too! A nice bar to have a few drinks and a nice little dance with friendsService: 4/5
Wonderful roof top space themed to a summer holiday beach. There are many steps to climb to get up there. I'm not sure there's a lift for those who can't take the stairs.Food: 4/5
Great venue to enjoy the sunset on the rooftop or rent one of the private rooms! The rooftop has themed decorations per seasons with fireplaces and outdoor seating as well as indoor warmth areas. The hot chocolate is delicious and they have a big selection of wines beers and cocktails
I attended a bottomless drag brunch with friends last week and it was an incredible experience. The event was hosted by Soroya Marchelle and Patricia Cwunt and was hilarious and full of entertainment. The food was great and the the prosecco was bottomless. Best time we've had in ages. Lovely hidden gem, good food, cozy place.Food: 5/5
