Superb service is the key to this place, it's an older hotel but everything works. The room lights, air conditioning and heating were all top notch bathroom was well equipped.nnThe quality of the breakfast in the morning was really very good, particularly good coffee.nnThe hotel has an extremely large car park at the bank which is very convenient for the town centre and all other amenities.nnVery fair pricing for the standard and location. Will definitely be using hotel again.nnThanks to all the staff.
We were a group of volunteers enjoying the luxury of being served a truly delicious afternoon tea in the restaurant, instead of being the ones doing the serving. Everything arrived beautifully presented and with lots of smiles. Constant top-ups for tea and coffee were carried out with no fuss. And those on special diets were well catered for. All in all, a great experience.
Attending yesterday with a small group. Upon arrival we were pushed to order food asap despite pointing out some of our group hadn’t yet arrived. Food was dreadful, over fried oil filled onion rings, battered fish that leaked oil when cooked, over cooked chewy chips, a chicken breast that looked like it had freezer burn and was so tough had to be ripped apart. 2 portions of onion rings were ordered and one was less than the other. Despite clearly stating 3 times beans instead of peas, peas were served. Asked for chilli sauce with the chicken bites, had to chase the sauces and then to no sweet chilli sauce available. No condiments offered at all. No cutlery given so our Luke warm food was cold by the time we got to even taste it. Our table was left with many empties and dirty plates for ages. We ordered coffees that weren’t brought and we had to keep chasing them. No staff came to check if everything was ok. No hand wash in one of the toilet. Full of dirty over filled bins. One of the toilets wouldn’t flush. Cobwebs every where. Absolutely appalling and I will never go again and I will advise everyone to stay away. The staff were soured faced too. The thing is, we turned up at a pub 2 hours into their roast dinner service, same group of people, with 2 of them members having dietary requirements and this particular pub couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. BTW it’s the crown in fakenham. Lovely lunch. Amazing staff. Weren’t bothered about our number. 7 adults and 4 children plus dogs. So couldn’t see why the George couldn’t produce great service. We didn’t ask for speedy food and we weren’t worried about a wait. We asked multiple times for our drinks, for hand soap and so on. We were polite at all times. Absolutely disappointing. Do not go. In mynOpinion if you can’t clean cobwebs and you can’t keep toilets clean; then god knows what goes on in the kitchen etc. the table itself had a glass top and underneath were loads of crumbs.
Spoilt our celebration we had our diamond wedding anniversary on Saturday 13th and wonderful day, I had booked a table for seven for SUNDAY LUNCH 4 WEEKS AGO but when we were at the table and had ordered our drinks we were told only Street food on the menu and were asked have you not been told about the change, to which I said nonAt this point we had no choice but to continue, we all ordered our food and after the very nice young waitress had to return to our table twice with changes from the kitchen, 6 meals arrived after I was left wondering what had happened to my meal I was told sorry but the kitchen had missed it on the order but not only had they missed it but now they tell me they don't have any of the Lamb steak I ordered so please order again, so I was left to wait for my meal until my 6 guests had almost finished there meals before I started mind.nAll in all it can only be described as a complete shambles, management get a grip or go and do something different because you are not doing this job with any kind of skill.n.
Me and my partner went here for breakfast this morning after seeing the new menu we thought we would give it a try. It was amazing! I had avocado on sourdough toast with smoked salmon and poached eggs which were cooked to perfection and my partner had a full english. The server was very friendly and was very attentive. We will definitely be back. If your thinking about having breakfast in dereham give it try.
