We stayed at The George Pub and Rooms this weekend and had such a lovely time. It’s a charming family-run pub, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel like part of the family. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, exactly what you want for a weekend away.nnOur room was cozy, spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We both slept so well! Breakfast was included in our stay and absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice between hot and cold options. The omelette and full English were both fantastic, and the coffee and fresh juice were perfect to start the day.nnWe also couldn’t resist buying some of the homemade preserves and jams made right there at the pub to take home, which was such a lovely touch. On Friday night we joined in the pub quiz at 9pm, which was great fun and a real highlight. Everyone got involved and it had such a friendly, community feel.nnWe honestly couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Great food, lovely people, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!
We visited twice over the weekend. We had drinks and enjoyed the quiz on Friday and then booked for a meal the following night. The food was amazing. Home cooked pub food, generous portions and it all tasted beautiful.
Had Sunday roast beef there. The meal tasted good but never have I had so little food for an £18.50 sunday roast. Literally 2 small roast potatoes, small portion of mash, 3 pieces of top roast beef, 1 Yorkshire pudding and very little gravy, plus a few veg on the side. I dont usually post reviews but am a little dissapointed I was expecting a larger meal.
There was no more space inside, so we were told to sit outside even though it was raining. Luckily, one of the staff members kindly offered us a table for a shorter time before the next reservations arrived, which I really appreciated.nHowever, when I asked for a drink, I was told “we don’t have a menu, just tell me what you fancy,” which felt a bit unprofessional.nnI think it’s a lovely place with a lot of potential, but it’s a pity to see how the servers’ attitude seems to change depending on the clientele. You can clearly feel a certain difference in how people are treated, which affects the overall experience.
Sunday lunch at the George. Great location friendly staff in a countryside setting. Good selection of beers. Log burner added to a fantastic atmosphere. Dinner was delicious. Bring an appetite !!
