My favourite pub in Castleton. We've been visiting for almost 20 years. The more recent owners have retained the country pub feel but upgraded food to appeal to just about everyone. We didn't try the pizzas but they looked amazing! We had a beautiful meal on our last night and it was really lovely. Son had the quiche and it was homemade and delicious I didn't get opportunity to steal!. Hubby had the steak.pie with mash and he said it was fantastic. I decided to have something different from my normal preferences and ordered the fish pie. So glad I did. Absolutely the best. I'm going to try and recreate at home.nThank you lovely people at The George. You made our holiday. You never fail to make me happy - lovely smiley staff. xxxnLena.
The pub has clean toilet which is very important and I am very pleased with it. Also the waiter was very nice, he convinced me that I can get my mozzarella pizza within 20 mins. I was wondering how they can delivered it to me and yeah they got and knew me although I was sitting outside. I like the service that is fast and friendly. Also the view is nice if you sit outside. Last but not least the interior is also got medieval vibe if you sit inside so both are nice.
A great traditional pub with even better food.nnSeems very popular as it was quite busy with some tabels being reserved before we got there.nnOpening times can vary as we arrived just after 11am, and it was closed despite their website saying opens at 11am.nnWould recommend for drinks or food.nnDog friendly.
Called in for evening meal at The George, absolutely fabulous foods and massive portions!! Staff are really first and attentive and as busy as it was we didn’t feel rushed at all. Will definitely return when we’re in the area. 10/10 and highly recommended
We Celebrated our anniversary here and the room was crazy HOT! I had just gotten off of a week long trip at an outdoor camp and was looking forward to an air conditioned room. The temperature was somewhere around 75-79 degrees. Both the hostess at the 9:30pm slot said she reset it from her end and the 3:30am gal stated that all she could offer me was their apologies. At $250 a night! Very disappointed!
