Just stayed a night here for a couple of days hiking and it's definitely worth a revisit.nnRoom was large and comfy #16.nnDinner was superbnnBrekkie Included in the stay was freshly cooked to order and not the typical buffet affair in many hotels.nnAll the above was great and worth a revisit but the most noteworthy was the service and friendliness of the staff. The dark haired young lady and the bearded young man were both superb and deserve acknowledgement.
Admittedly we only ended up here as everywhere else was full, but very happy thats how it worked out.nn4 of us - fish n chips, shin beef, pizza and the falafel burger- all excellent. Waitress lovely - Molly. Wasn't busy hence just 3 stars on atmosphere, but food really was good. Happy to recommend.
We visited today after a walk up mam tor. It was busy when we arrived however we didnt have to wait long to order at the bar.nWe had roast dinners all round and they were excellent, would definitely visit again if in the local area.
Came for drinks here over a couple of days. Located just up from the visitors centre/car park on the main road through Castleton. Quaint cosy vibe to the place. Probably the best beer garden in Castleton with great views, I imagine it gets very busy on summer days. Lots of space inside. Good service. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Definitely one of the best pubs in Castleton.
Enjoyed a fantastic meal at The Castle today. The steak and ale pie was delicious and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. We were served by V who was great, knew about the different dishes and we couldn't have asked for better service. Will definitely be back.
