Visited here last minute upon staying at the Chevin End Guest House for the weeke d with a business trip which may I add is great for accommodation. The atmosphere was ideal for a cosy dinner for 2, and the selection of drinks and food was plentiful. We were greeted by Hannah and Chloe, who were absolutely lovely all evening. Above and beyond service, and you could tell they actually cared about the quality of our experience. Food was reasonable given the slightly more sophisticated setting. We had the steak pie, which was rich and delicious and the dirty burger! Followed by the trio of deserts, which is a must-have! It's really hard to find a good creme brulee, but this one is perfect! We will definitely be back. Thank you so much, Hannah and Chloe, for making our evening so wonderful Martin & Francesca
Ate here tonight with my husband. The customer service wow! So so attentive, the chef was on his own, they told they might be a slight wait. I hard pork belly, my husband and the rare lamb. It was absolute perfection. Highly recommendFood: 5/5
Loving this new New Menu. Absolutely divine flavours from all 3 courses. Starter didn't disappoint, I had Goats cheese tart which wasn't too strong. Mushroom starter in a lovely creamy cheese sauce. Mushroom Risotto yes I love mushrooms for main which was the nicest I have ever tasted regarding a Risotto. I wouldn't normally go for vegetarian dishes but the flavours were beautiful. Finished off sharing a Crème Brûlée which was light but tasty. All in all a lovely experience.
Very nice food. I got the trio of meats and each was cooked really nice, the pork was the tastiest and really melt in your mouth. You don’t get a lot of veg and potatoes so felt the portion wasn’t great considering the price. Maybe some mash or more veg would have been nice. We ordered the cauliflower cheese which was definitely needed. Desserts were lovely. It was very busy as you might expect and felt like the staff were rushed off their feet, they were great and very helpful to us but would have been nicer if I felt they were a bit more relaxed.
Update December 2023 Original review below. Changed to 5 stars, came back mid December and had steak, probably one of the most tasty steak we have ever had, so we came back between Xmas and New year, the ambiance was so festive and also relaxed, it was perfect. I had Prawns and my Hudband had Calamari for starters, I don't eat calamari, but my husband said try it, wow, it was amazing and if they still have it on when we next visit, I will be having it. The prawns were amazing, too. I had a burger, and I can safely say the best one I have had up until now. It tasted meaty, and the flavours were amazing. Compliments to the chefs and all the other staff. Exceptional service. Would very highly recommend the Fox. April 2023 This really should be 4.5 stars. We were a party of 10, The service given by Chloe was fantastic. She was helpful, friendly, and very professional. The food was amazing and there was a great atmosphere. The only reason I gave 4 stars was due to the waitress bringing the desert menu who didn't let us know what wasn't available, so after spending 10 minutes choosing our deserts and placing our order we were then told, sorry that one is unavailable. Had we been told when the menus were brought, it would have saved the disappointment and embarrassment at the time. Everything else was spot on.

We booked the upstairs room at the Fox for an afternoon funeral buffet. From our first contact with James we knew it was the right choice. Everyone was so friendly and approachable. The room was perfect, cosy and comfortable on a dreary day. We were advised to under order and I’m glad we did. The servings were generous and the chicken and fish goujons in particular were delicious, as was the lemon tart. Many guests commented on the quality of the food. Thank you to everyone concerned on the day for your kind attention. Dietary restrictions: Our sons partner is lactose intolerant. Her buffet selection was beautifully presented. She was impressed!
The fox has a wheelchair/pram friendly entrance, carpark can get very tight when busy. I had the pan fried sea bass, very tasty. My wife had the pork belly roast dinner, which she enjoyed.Food: 5/5
Just got home from a great 3-course mothers day meal. The food was really good from the set menu only knocked a star off because the saffron velouté was a bit thin and the diced tomato felt a little out of place, but I'm probably just being picky. My yuzu margarita I could've had a bathtub full it was perfect. Overall Molly was an absolute delight and very patient with my million questions I'm so sorry haha and made it a brilliant end to my mothers day! Vegetarian options: I did want a roast but the only option was a thing made with nuts and seeds.The celeriac steak with pesto sounded very good though and if I were vegetarian not pescitarian I'd probably have gotten that but in the end I went with sea bass.
