Lives up to every inch of anticipation. We had high hopes following the stellar reviews and the place really delivers. Service on another level, incredibly helpful and friendly. The starters were a delight - Not overwhelmed with salad as some pubs do. Tasted fresh and home made, the crispy squid a real highlight. Mains were fantastic, with the highly reviewed fish and chips delivering on its promise. Duo of lamb also a particularly notable dish. Overall a brilliant experience and meal. We'll soon be back.
Enjoyed an outstanding dinner and dessert here. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Sadly, after living locally for many years, this would be our first visit to The Fox and our mistake for taking so long. We booked a table for 6 adults and was greeted with a friendly welcome. The individual Beef Wellington was absolutely delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth and full of flavour. Just the right amount of pasty, which was light and tasty. The accompanying vegetables were cooked beautifully. The other dishes, Lamb Shank, Sea Bass, Burger,, Chicken Pie, Fish & Chips were all equally cooked and eagerly eaten. The desserts were also delicious. The staff were very attentive and the general atmosphere of the public house was warm and relaxed. So a grateful thank you to all at The Fox for such a wonderful evening…
A great place to stop for a break on a bike ride. Beer is good and the food is decent. The service is friendly and the location is lovely. I expect I will be back here in the near future.
Another great pit stop, lovely welcome, great staff, quick service, great food, & beer. Great decore. Must try again for dinner...
My daughters bought me a voucher for The Fox for Christmas. Lovely meal, service and atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.Food: 5/5
Nice country pub which is more of a restaurant and certainly not a local village boozer. A little more expensive than some but good quality. We visited for Sunday lunch and this place is very busy so clearly popular and worth coming back to. As a group we had roast, fish and chips and burger for our mains and everyone was really happy with the food. The sticky toffee pudding is incredible! But as we live in West Reading we probably won't become regulars as there's many nice pubs and places to eat between us and Peasemore. But will certainly come back again as a treat. Staff are really friendly and the menu has lots of choice. Our visit was midwinter and I would think it's lovely here in the summer
Called on the off chance of a Sunday roast with out booking. No problem, find a table and we'll take a drinks order. What a good choice, three roasts, plus plenty of other options. You know it's all prepared for you, when it takes a while to arrive. Beautiful rump of lamb served pink just as it should be, sirloin so tender with fine Yorkshire pudding, the Mediterranean vegetable pie came with great chips. All the accompanying vegetables were perfect and full of flavour. The desert menu caused almost more trouble, with everything sounding delicious, in the end berry cheesecake, banoffy pie and sticky toffee pudding, each with a scoop of ice cream finished the meal. Possibly the lightest sticky toffee pudding sponge ever. The secret is the gluten free flour. All the current Covid protections are in place, and don't stop the warm welcome. It may be off the beaten track, but it is worth traveling to enjoy the hospitality and food
Stopped for a drink at lunch time. Lovely looking venue. The pub was busy with customers.
A nice little pub/restaurant to visit. Not easy to find, and roads get quote narrow when getting near as it is placed in the country. Not a lot of seating, so it's worth getting there early. The pub has its own car park down the side of it. When busy, it can get noisy and hard to hear conversations as tables are quite close by. The service is good however as the food is cooked fresh can be a little bit slow coming out. Drinks are expensive, and menu prices fairly high for what you get tho is very enjoyable. Kid-friendliness: Not a very kid friendly place as nothing for children to do ad is more catered for adults and meals. Parking: There is plenty of parking but would advise getting there early.
