I visited The Fleece on Boxing Day because I couldn't be bothered to cook. I would have expected to pay a lot for the privilege but not only was I surprised to be able to make a reservation with only 3 days notice, it only cost £17 for 2 courses or £20 for 3. If you're not familiar with the pub, you never leave hungry because portions are big, so this represents particularly good value. Food was pretty decent quality, the roast beef in particular being a highlight and service was good, as ever. They forgot to bring a spoon for the soup starter but otherwise I couldn't complain. I've been on several occasions and will continue to visit in the future.

Lovely and comfortable modern pub. Great food, large portion sizes and a good selection of beers. Good and efficient service even when full.

Very busy local pub/restaurant, picturesque setting, large indoor and outdoor seating area. Helpful staff. However, food was typical of what is on offer at a number of local establishments, but prices were noticeably higher. Only been once, maybe just a bad night, but food was not outstanding for premium price level. However, it is a very popular restaurant, very busy, particularly at weekend.

Had a really terrible meal here today. It used to be nice and you could count on a decent steak and chips at a normalish price but everything as wrong today. All I can do after today is list the faults: Steaks are now extortionately priced: £20 for a rib eye without sauce or chips, so basically 25 by the time you’ve turned it into a meal Chips were practically raw, inedible Burgers were disgusting, incredibly cheap processed gristly meat None of the beers on tap tasted in good condition Everyone around us was complaining that items were forgotten Staff seemed baffled by everything Having said all that I should have said we got a discounted bill as a result of all this but I’d have preferred a decent meal
