We visit The Fishpool Inn every December as part of our Christmassy tradition, and normally the 70-mile round trip is something we genuinely look forward to. Sadly, this year really didn’t live up to the standard we’ve always associated with the place.nnDespite booking plenty of weeks in advance, we were seated at a random table right in the middle of the walkway, with people constantly passing by. It was the opposite of cosy, not exactly the festive atmosphere we’d hoped for.nnThe quality of the food has also dipped compared to previous years. Everything felt a bit lacklustre, especially for what ended up being a £110 bill for a spot of lunch. When you’re spending that kind of money, you expect the experience to reflect it.nnEven the 2 glasses of champagne arrived in two different glasses, a tiny detail, but it highlights that the attention to detail simply wasn’t there as it usually is.nnAnd finally, our waitress looked genuinely miserable, everyone has off days, but the lack of warmth really added to the disappointment.nnIt’s such a shame, because this place has been part of our festive tradition for years. Hopefully this was just an off visit, but this time it sadly didn’t feel worth the long journey or the price.
5/5 for this restaurant. It has such a warm, cosy atmosphere. It’s dog friendly so we normally go for a walk around Delemere Forest and then relax with food and drink at at The Fishpool in. I would recommend booking a table.
Visited for the first time in a while this week and glad to report the food was still as tasty as ever.nI went for the steak burger which was delicious, whilst the Mrs had a diavola pizza, which she loved, but warning it does pack a punch.nThe only thing I'd suggest to improve is the Lager offerings, but thats probably just me being picky.
Food was amazing, staff very friendly, atmosphere was great too,nnFree parking too.nnWould highly recommend :
Wow, what a wonderful place to relax after a walk in Delamere Forest.nWarm literally due to the log fire, friendly and helpful staff coupled with an extensive well priced menu.nFood excellent - steak burger, roast dinner and salad.
