Stopped off for a cheeky pint and sat in the beer garden. The beer garden was massive and the furnishings were great, with a relaxed vibe. There was a "tunnel" of vine plants that provided a cool spot if you didn't want to sit in the sun. There is also ample parking around the back. Nice little spot.
Very disappointing visit. Plus points - easy booking over phone. Turned up at 7:30 and nobody else in restaurant Nice decor and ambience. Bar and restaurant staff friendly and polite. Food not so good. “Baked Brie” worst I’ve ever had, served on a slate with a crudely broken chunk of bread which nearly rolled off into my lap when the waiter handed it to me. The Brie was horrible see photo. I’m convinced it was a few measly chunks of brie thrown into a bowl with some onions and microwaved. The idea is to be able to dip bread into it but it was not runny like I expected. I immediately returned it and ordered the cheddar and ham croquettes which thankfully were okay. As if that wasn’t bad enough, when my main meal pie of the day turned up, the pie was luke warm and I had to return that too!! I don’t normally like to complain in restaurants so twice in one night is quite a bad night. While I was waiting for my main course to be returned the bar manager came and apologised, offering us another round of drinks, which we assumed were complementary. However, when I paid the bill it became clear that nothing had been deducted from the bill for any of the food or drinks and we had been charged for those drinks. Needless to say I didn’t leave a tip! Before leaving the restaurant I walked past the kitchen and saw the two male chefs larking around with another chap. Their raucous laughter could still be heard when i returned to the bar. Perhaps if they focused more on their jobs they would produce better results. Won’t be going there again
Visited the exhibition for an in prompt date night. Last time we visited food was amazing but this time was rather disappointed. Ordered fish which was then not available and so ordered chicken instead which was nice but my partner had burger which was cold and when bill came were overcharged for fish originally ordered! Refund was quickly resolved by manager and lots of apologies just shame wasn't to standard last time!
Sunday lunch was exceptional. Not just delicious, beautifully presented and great selection of wine to accompany. Service was quick and helpful. Surroundings pleasant and atmosphere great. Able to enjoy a conversation without having to shout. Great visit. Thanks to the team.
Always a good experience here: the staff are great and it's a well-run pub! In the summer the garden is brilliant to have a drink in, and the meals are great value. What's not to like?
Very quiet meal tonight with great food. I had the blade of beef with was beautifully prepared and just flaked apart. My friend had mushroom risotto...very nice portion. And dessert included sticky toffee pudding and brownie. Service was friendly, however since there wasn't many customers in the restaurant, we were a bit disappointed as it was a long time before we were checked on and requestd a second glass of wine. The brownie was cold as if refrigerated and wasn't warmed prior to being served. This is a restaurant I enjoy going to and is one of my regular favourites.
Wow , the food is absolutely amazing and the service, we came today on mother's day and obviously had to wait a while but it was well worth the wait , highly recommend this place, definitely be coming back , thank you for such an enjoyable meal
Went there for Christmas gathering with colleagues. Very high quality food, excellent service and good money value. We were 25 and food still served on time and classy. I would highly recommend.
