My wife & I visited the theatre to see Ghost. The theatre itself is absolutely beautiful, with many original features still in situ. Easy access to our seats via wide aisles. A great feature is being able to order refreshments during the break via their online app. Literally didn’t have to budge from our seats to queue for a drink at the interval. Ghost, the show was amazing. I’m not one for musicals, but my wife booked it and pestered me to go with her. As a dutiful husband I did just that, and I’m glad I did. The cast and accompanying band were all very talented, and there was plenty of laughs & giggles throughout the performance. Truly a wonderful show, which we both highly recommend attending. As a bonus, there is also the odd bit of flesh during the performance that pleased some members of the audience, warranting a wolf whistle or a cheer. I’m really scraping the barrel here, but felt the need to mention it. We had front row seats for the show, which at times affected our view of some of the sets towards the back of the stage. This was due to the stage elevation from our seat position. Just bare this in mind when you are booking seats. Apart from that,
What a beautiful building/theatre. We went to see Wicked which was a truly amazing show, made better by the venue. Well organised, lots of facilities and seating. Beautiful architecture and that feeling of old and new mixed. Wonderfully preserved and presented. Highly recommended. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Beautiful theatre well maintained and clean. I went to watch wicked with my daughter and mum 7:30 performance the added bonus is lime st station and weather spoons are just next door so a quick bite to eat a fantastic show and train home all within steps of each other x
Wicked... Absolutely amazing show. Definitely go and see it if you can it was mesmerising. The production, the music Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The costumes were out of this world. We were blown away. It really was amazing Only downfall was the toilets the theatre only has one disabled toilet on our level so the queues were taking ages but apart from that it was a beautiful venue.
Beautiful classical theatre, we enjoyed the show. The stage itself also reflects it’s age , “not a high-tech one” , so mostly you will see musicals, concerts, comedians and operas in this theatre. The reason I give 4 stars instead of 5, because the seats on the circle are extremely small, even for short people it’s just not comfortable at all for a 2 hrs performance, quite a struggle. And people should not be allowed to eat in there, I did see food delivered in paper bags to the seats, it’s just not the place for that in my opinion. Leave that for a cinema, not a classical theatre. Drinks as well, everyone with cans, bottles, plastic cups, it’s disturbing, and then people just never stop moving , going to the toilets or the bars or wherever. The architecture of the building is breathtaking.
Decent theatre venue. Seats aren't the most comfortable but pretty much what you'd expect. Would recommend ordering food and drink for the interval ahead of time as the queues were long for the bar and toilets
DWe attended the Empire Theatre on 3rd July for the matinee performance of Wicked. Beautiful theatre and amazing show. We sat in row Circle H 14,15,16 , the seats were comfortable however not enough leg and knee room. I am only 5’3” and my knees were pushed up tightly on the seats in front, My hubby at 6’ was In agony. There was also several parties of school children behind us, who were not behaving , throwing things at us from behind. We did not complain but others from further along our row did . Thank you to the Theatre team member lady who came and had a word with them. They calmed down a little after the interval. I would definitely not attend again for a matinee at the end of summer term again. 5 stars for theatre and performance. 3 stars for seating.
Really impressive theatre! We were sat in the circle and had a good view of the stage, in comfortable seating. Staff all seemed to be very friendly and welcoming.
Fabulous theatre. Beautiful inside. We had a really good view from our seats in the stalls H7/8. Plenty of legroom. Toilets were easy to find. Staff were pleasant.
We had a wonderful evening watching Wicked. The theatre is in a great location with lots of public transport options. You can order drinks and snacks to be delivered to your seat before the show or at the interval so you don't have to queue. Fantastic!
