Lovely old building, big lounge area, helpful staff. Main building has a big staircase so we asked to be put in the stables on street level with a ramp as we needed level access. The room was small but adequate. No lift in the main building.nPlenty of outdoor seating with beautiful trees and grass. Good function room at the back, great for weddings, car parpark.nBreakfast was fresh cooked to order as we were the only ones at that point.nThe curry we had was delicious, unusual and not the run of the mill sort.nnThe parking area by the road isn't theirs, though, so you could get a fine from the local authority!
Went for Sunday lunch with two of my dearest friends and it was by far the best I've ever had. Even at 3pm all the veg was fresh and not soggy, the meat I had roast lambwas gorgeous. Staff were fabulous, friendly, polite and professional. I can't honestly say that there was a fault with anything. Absolutely perfect.
Room 1 Fire Alarm nightmare!nnThere is a fire alarm located in room 1. This went off three times on Saturday 17th August 2024. As the alarm is actually in the room it's deafening and I was fast asleep when it went off. I woke up in shock with this at roughly 11pm initially, having been asleep for roughly an hour. It was on for a minute or two I guess. Then, 2 more times this happened during the night, the last time being midnight. After this I called reception and they assured me the cooking issue the cause was now resolved. This was very disruptive.nnThe alarm has been cited before on Trip Advisor reviews, so this should have been sorted and moved elsewhere near to the room but not in it.nnIn the morning on checking out I received no apology. Very poor as they must know the alarm is in that room, very close to the bed and very loud. And because of my call.nnOther than this, to give a review of my experience otherwise, the hotel is dated, but clean, the room was big and had everything needed. The previous night the bar closed just before we arrived, but they kindly allowed us to have a drink to take outside before closing again. They have beautiful grounds. Probably a Wedding venue and there was a late party the same night as the alarm, but wasn't overly loud.nnA slight security issue was the back door, which is used after the bar is closed to get to some of the rooms, I used it and it was not locked even though I had a key to get in. I ensured the door was then locked it wasn't a customer leaving it open, as I was the first to use it that night after the bar area closed.
We didn't stay but we had a meal. Food excellent quality and very nice but a very long wait. We were told this is because all the food is cooked fresh
Restaurant and food beautiful service excellent. Rooms excellent value clean and equipped with all you need for overnight stay. Would definitely be going agaim
