Love this place. Echoes of Tolkien, Lewis, and the Inklings. Great fish and chips.
Wonderful little pub with a lot of history. Great selection from a full stocked bar, with beers being the most popular. Very spacious so make sure you walk all the way to the back for open seating, or hang out in the front for something more cozy and historic. Excellent prices.
So cool to sit where Tolkien and Lewis sat. The front of the pub is kept cozy and period, with homage to those great writers. The back portion is befitting of the college town it’s in. Bathrooms were not in good shape. Staff were curt. I was happy to have finally been here tho! The Pot Pie trio was delicious!
I have been wanting to go to this pub for a long time and it was brilliant! All of the memorabilia dotted about the place was fantastic particularly enjoyed the cupboard entrance to Narnia!!
Delicious food, charming atmosphere and a must see for any Tolkien or Lewis fan. Such a privilege to get to spend time in a place they regularly met. After spending some time here I understand why!
