Since 1863 when it was built as Plymouth’s first luxury hotel through to the present day, the hotel has an intriguing history that is sure to capture your imagination. The style and generous proportions of the hotel evoke the grace of years gone by, while our commitment to excellent service provides all the modern facilities you would expect.
Resting in the heart of Britain’s Ocean City, the hotel is the ideal base from which to explore the rich and varied history of Plymouth or to journey further into the beautiful South West. From the dramatic scenery of Dartmoor to the historic Barbican, home of Plymouth Gin distillery, there are a wealth of sights to enjoy.
Based opposite Plymouth Pavilions and just a short walk to the Theatre Royal and the city centre make the Duke the perfect base for business and pleasure visitors alike.
Leaving the bustle of the city behind you as you enter The Duke of Cornwall Hotel you immediately get a feel for the hotel in the welcoming decor of the entrance hall, with the ornate plaster, wood panelled walls and impressive stone fireplace, setting the scene for what is to come. You are immediately drawn towards the main reception by the grandeur of the imposing central staircase.
