What a village pub should be like, friendly, ecclectic, full of characters and bustling with life. The Dog is a local focal point of a small community but also a hub for good pub food for the wider area. Rooms are available too for walkers and Cotswold bound tourists. Pleasant garden at the back also.

At the time of review the score was a 3.8 of which I would say is fairly accurate. I myself would have given it a 3.5. Put it this way. I wouldn't travel any distance to come here. However if you were in the town it's worth a visit. I came for the food and a pint. I had the cottage pie which was basically the amount that would fit on a kitchen cooking spoon. The other 80% of the plate was just vegetables lots of vegetables, of which I ate all, I must add. The pub is a little run down. The derelict look it had on the front was a little off putting. However the inside is nice. To finish on a positive the staff were really friendly.

My family and i had a great meal which is hard to please the kids but they loved it. Friendly staff and a warm environment would recommend this place to eat and would defiantly eat here again.

Great tasting and well portioned Sunday roast in front of a roaring log fire. Beer variety was a tad lacking, but okay and to be expected for a locals pub. Casks tasted to be well kept.
