Honestly so disappointed with this visit. We love coming to the crown but unfortunately today's visit just wasn't up to standard. On ordering our food there was a number of items unavailable, which I think is terrible from a kitchen management point a view. It's a Saturday, surely you'd make sure that all items are available for potentially one of the busiest days of your week. We got a starter to share Bao buns the bun was cold and chicken was tasteless. Main meals were then served and the starter plate was left on the table. I ordered the Katsu chicken which is usually great but regrettably the chicken was overcooked. The outer coating could have chipped a tooth. Chips were overcooked. Picture attached My partner got the Salt beef and cheese burger which he said was lovely. Thank you. Now for the worst part, our son ordered the fish fingers after not being able to have the pizza and I honestly don't know what part of the bottom of the fryer they found these. The chips had no potato left. I've attached a picture to this post because I can't quite believe a chef/cook has let this leave the kitchen. It is their responsibility to ensure that the food leaving the kitchen is fit for consumption. I would honestly be ashamed. No check backs were done at any point, with 3 members of staff and a quiet period. We will return for quiz night but potentially not to eat.
Was a baby the first time I was taken in this pub and have visited many times throughout my life. It must be a few years since I last visited and the food then was terrible. I'm pleased to say that the food was superb and the overall menu was varied and at reasonable prices too. Definitely worth another visit.
I've been coming here for quite some time now after relocating. What a gem to find!! Whilst I appreciate that cleanliness and quality are fundamental to a pub which this place has in abundance, I consider service to be key for repeat business. The staff and management here are just the friendliest, kindest and most welcoming bunch of people I have ever come across in a pub setting. They're always happy to go the extra mile for you and ensure you're looked after and treated well. An absolute credit to the business. The beer garden has just been given a great makeover with huge outdoor tv, great for sports with plenty of screens around, whilst also have smaller sections for quieter customers. Great range of drinks and food on offer. My only suggestion would be to either call ahead or get there early enough for the kitchen as sometimes it is closed earlier than advertised sometimes due to be quiet, sometimes due to large parties. Well done to the team and keep up the good work!!
Lovely cosy place. However they had alot of the food and drinks unavailable hence the 3 stars Friendly staff x dog friendly
The food was good, however half the menu wasn't available because they were changing it, staff were polite and really helpful, will go back and hopefully they will have a full menu, the only thing that let it down.
Apalling service, had a pre paid group on voucher and woman didn't have a clue and couldn't understand - ended up just cancelling and paying for drinks - not a happy experience at all suggest staff should be trained on products and services and not be snotty to customers due to their obvious inexperience - never had an issue with other green king pubs... Update 10 mins later after going down the road to neighboring green king, absolutely clued up and didn't try charging us double. Won't be coming here again.
Really enjoyed all the food we had today there was ten of us and we had all different food l would recommend it to anyone that wants to try
Terrible customer service! Served by Abbie, I ordered drinks first and got my daughter a fruit shoot.. came to then order food including the meal deal for the child, I then asked if I could have a refund on the fruit shoot and have it in with the kids meal so I didn’t have to pay twice, she then said this couldn’t be done and just did a sarcastic laugh and just said ‘sorry’. Including in the kids meal deal was a drink and three course meal, when the food came I then mentioned that she had forgotten the starter, she then was really rude and just said ‘I did check your order with you!’ But I will go get you the starter. When we was leaving she then said that I still had the starter to pay for! But why was I paying for a starter that was included in the meal deal I said? She just then insisted that it still had to be paid for it? I refused to pay for a starter that was included in the meal deal, Abbie then just said ‘oh it’s fine!’ In a rude manner! I do have to say one positive, the food was lovely, but based on the customer service we received and the way they speak to you I will not be returning.
Friendly ‘local’ it’s a great pub with pub style good with ‘2 for’ type deals & also I believe reduced prices for OAPs during lunch but check that. If you like a quiet pint I do avoid televised sports events as it gets really busy and loud also I advise to BOOK a table for Mother’s Day etc - It is a pub so don’t expect silver service but you will definitely have a great time!
