Hadn't been for awhile but found it surprisingly good since new owners took t over. Food excellent, bar staff very pleasant and helpful. Will be going again.Hotel highlightsKid-friendly, Great value
After hearing different reviews after original owners had left, decided to give it a go, so glad we did, food was delicious and piping hot, good portion size and great value for money, will definitely go again
The table staff, food and ambience in the dining room the room separate to the pub were all good and we enjoyed raising a glass with the birthday meal to my 80 year old mum. The attitude of the barman in the bar area however, was a different matter: my husband was told that it was 'the restaurant' and not a dining room in a very rude manner, by the impolite barman, when my husband was asking about where our seats were. This barman was the same one that was rude to my husband in July this year, and we had rather hoped that he no longer worked at The Crown. My husband has managed a pub himself and worked in customer services/ retail for many years, and he would never speak to customers the way this man has spoken to him both tonight and the previous time we came to the pub - a pub we went to a great deal in the past when the bar staff were as lovely as the dining staff.
We had a meal here this week with our walking group, maybe 30 people. The starter was good but the main course of a turkey roast dinner was abysmal. The vegetables were overdone, the sprouts were just mush, you couldn’t get your fork into the roast potatoes, the meat was ok, stuffing ball was dry. There were no serving spoons, we had to request some. The pudding was good. I really wanted to have a lovely meal and enjoy my visit to the Crown but this has put me off.
What a great place. Lots of menu choices. Friendly staff. We were a party of 10 and all really enjoyed our meals. Would definitely recommend and will go again.
Noisy noisy bar, the lounge was set out for dining rather than chatting n drinking, the staff were ok, the food overly greasy and over priced. Have been here again, it's under new management he drinks whilst behind the bar! Most staff are pleasant and helpful. The food still isn't great but the bar is less noisy
Overpriced for what it is. Noisy lounge bar area. Bar staff mainly young girls who don't seem to care how long you are waiting and some sort of 'old rocker' bloke who eventually did serve us had a bad attitude. Nah! Never again.
Miserable guy behind the bar at 3pm on a Saturday made us feel that unwelcome that we are unlikely to return. Was hoping he would have gone when Bridgehouse left. You walk into a pub, wanting a warm welcome, definitely not one in here today. What a shame, the pub was once wonderful and a must go to in Colne for eats and drinks.
Great location and a wonderful period building, but staff are few and attention to customers is lacking. Perhaps if less attention was given to their mobile phones it would improve!Rooms: 4/5
Had a lovely meal at Crown today with a friend. The food was excellent. The portions were ample. The vegetables are fresh and the meat pie is a must try. The staff were friendly and polite. We will definitely be going again.
