On arrival I introduced as a Motorhome stopover for britstop, I had a warm welcome, the pub itself was inviting and the food smelt gorgeous, dogs were welcomed so I went back to my van to feed the dogs and walk them after a long journey. We sat in the lovely garden with a drink and a menu, they even had meaty meal for dogs on the menu , dog blankets for your pooch to lie on, the meal was fantastic and good value, will return if ever travelling this way. Park at the back of car park loads of room.
Had a lovely meal here with the family, and even the dog got a meal!! Great service and reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting here again. Parking: Great parking. Large carpark.
Tuesday 7th May Really nice pub inside and out. Plenty of tables outside, and a nice area to sit in. All staff are excellent, good choice of food and drink. The food is great and reasonably priced, very filling and piping hot. First time stopping here, will certainly stop next time Dogs and Hikers welcome.
A very busy pub with attentive staff. Great menu, great service. Wouldn't hesitate to return. We encountered a slight mishap with a serving tray. As the waitress served us our drinks her tray slipped, the poor waitress ended up with milk all over her trousers and shoes. She was very apologetic and professional.
Never been more disappointed than today, just had lunch with my wife and adult children, and it being quite a drive left me wondering why you're average pub's food is so poor, we all had the roast, with extra pigs in blankets, of which tested off, but said nothing. Everything tested the same, the roast potatoes tasted as though they were cooked yesterday, the carrots were virtually raw...the desserts were good apparently, as I don't do desserts....it really was no better than Toby carvery, of which is usually dreadful.....Will definitely not be going again
Had roast beef lunch and it was very nice, I would have given 5 stars for the food but it needed to be a bit hotter but it was very busy so maybe to be expected. The staff we very friendly and helpfull even though busy. Great place thanks.Food: 4/5
Excellent, the food is fabulous. The signature Yorkshire pudding is so good. You can tell that a place is good when it’s so popular despite being a little off the main track. It was packed all the time we were there and showed no signs of easing up as we moved from Sunday lunch to evening. They are very well organised and kept everything running smoothly. Meals delivered in a timely manner.

A regular local haunt! The Good -Location. On site parking. This pub has stunning local walks routing right through the property that take in the Towton battlefield and stunning local views. -Staff. Always friendly and welcoming. -Food. Are you brave enough for the Yorkshire Pudding Challenge? A well chosen, accessible menu with something for everyone. The roast is very good. There are, objectively, better roasts available, but they're also at a higher price point. You would leave here happy and full. The Bad This is a popular spot, so book in advance to avoid disappointment on Sundays. Greg's Tip Go for bonfire night. They put on a special event!
A great stop off on our way back from the east coast. The service was excellent, from the bar to the table service. The food was very tasty, with particular highlights being the steak pie crispy pastry and huge chunks of beef, the gammon cooked to perfection and, of course, the massive Yorkshire puddings which the kids demolished. The value was great too, with the quality of the food being a step above many in a similar price bracket.
