A delightful restaurant with 4 rooms for accommodation. The food is very good, especially the fish and chips which is outstanding. But there are many other excellent large and small plates to choose from. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The room we had was fine, a bit basic but in keeping with such an old building. Very clean with a nice bathroom. The place literally creaks with old age, very atmospheric. Highly recommended for a visit.
Wow, what a find! We had dinner Friday night which was amazing so we came back for Sunday lunch too. Service was excellent, Chloe looked after us both nights and we couldn’t ask for more. Amazing service. The food was brilliant, it’s the sort of high quality ingredients and great cooking you’d expect in a high end city restaurant. They have a small menu which is cooked to perfection. The prawn on crumpet with prawn bisque and crispy capers was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. We got to bring the dog as well which was a nice addition. Ness looked after us and was very welcoming.
My husband read online about this place, and had it as one of the first places to see and eat at on our holiday so pleased he did , we had a drink the first day and booked meal for a few days later. The owner and her lovely team were so friendly and looked after us so well especially Chloe. The food was delicious and just because they sounded so nice I had two deserts. The inn was so interesting so had a good look round. This place is a must so we will return next visit wishing the pub was nearer to home.
Good food, good service, amazing place. Dog friendly inside, steps make it wheelchair inaccessible. Very clean toilets. In a gorgeous location, well worth the drive. Didn't stay overnight but they had new carpets installed in October 2022. Food & drinks: Food made on site. Vegetarian options were excellent. Chips were perfect. Very reasonable pricing. Noteworthy details: Thatched roof, wood burning stove, low timber frame ceilings.
We were going to have a drink on our way to the hotel where we were staying. On the day we came they had a lovely Christmas market and one off the volunteers with a smile shared that it would be park and ride due to the market i.e we would follow him by car and he drove us to the pub. Super friendly stuff, location and the pulled burgers of the market were divine.
Lovely location and interiors. Atmosphere was pleasing and service was satisfactory. Sunday lunch however, was terrible. We waited for over 45 mins for our food and when it arrived it was fairly average. Made the mistake of ordering a dessert and again a long wait for a mediocre meal. Very overpriced for the quality of food.
Very olde world traditional pub set in a rural location We didn't eat but had some drinks, all good and good selection. Friendly bar staff and clientele. Decent size car park. Bit off the beaten track but that's why you visit. Narrow unlit roads so drive with care. We will definitely go again.
This lovely and classic country pub has a lovely restaurant section with some adventurous menu items and a healthy dose of local farm to table type meal offerings. For us veggies there was a very lush sounding cauliflower steak. Unfortunately we only had time to sample the truffle chips this visit, but the kitchen smells were divine. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions about the food we had [with me being an awkward planty based person these days] Honestly; they should be busier than we saw, but we did visit near the end of lunch service and on a Thursday. I've no doubt it can get packed and I would say book ahead to make sure you can get a table, especially if it's an evening meal. Lush location. Lush staff. Get yourselves down there, you're in for a sweet time
What a fantastic historic building. Well worth a visit and stay. The food is delicious. You can tell how nice it is by the fact that we had to wait to get a parking place late Sunday afternoon as it was so busy.Rooms: 5/5
We had lunch and dinner here, friendly staff and the food was good. Multiple gluten free options available which were clearly indicated on the menu. Menu has both traditional as well as more modern food options.
