Amazing Sunday lunch Lovely little quaint country pub. Great experience from start to finish, seated quickly, drink and food order was taken in good time. Sunday lunch was a very good size and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. Meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings arrived on the plate, then the vegetables are served in separate bowls, we had cabbage, swede, carrots and cauliflower cheese, along with extra gravy. There is a choice of beef, pork or chicken, along with a vegetarian option. Great choice of puddings also. All the staff are very friendly, polite and attentive. We booked in advance and I would definitely recommend doing this, as it was very busy and the only tables that were available were the benches outside. Definitely recommend coming here for Sunday lunch, if you are staying in or around the area. Huge outdoor space, with under cover booths and pub tables. Small children's play park, along with a small area, with goats, chickens and cockerels. Plenty of parking around the back.
the meals are lovely and so are desserts, lots of choice and all very reasonable prices. the aesthetic of the place and the way it's set up is so enticing and the staff are all very respectful and helpful! came twice in a week and will definitely be back once on holiday again
Very nice dog friendly pub and staff .went to stover County Park and picked this pub to go to after and glad we did
Absolutely five stars. Would give six if I could. Best chicken burger I've ever eaten new recipe get down there and try it! Cosy with twinkle lights and an open fire. Dog friendly. Lots of outside space great for the warmer months. Nice menu. Very reasonably priced and locals get a lunchtime discount midweek. Really friendly staff. The kind of local I'd always wished I had had just superb.
Sunday roast yesterday. The veg were good except the roast potatoes which were black on the outside. The beef was chewy. I needed a steak knife to cut it. I have arthritis in my hands. The apple and blackberry crumble was good. The staff were friendly but I felt they were rushing us at times. And they all seemed new and not used to using their tablets. I preferred it when it was a proper pub
Best local pub I've ever been to. Friendly proper Devon landlord and friendly staff too. Fantastic food . Great service and live music Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
Stopped on my travels home whilst exploring dartmoor. Staff and service were second to none. Staff were very welcoming and efficient cant thank their excellent customer service enough. Drinks were great and food selection was excellent with a good variety of vegan options. I had the Mexican chicken, which was a unique plate. It was extremley tasty and something like I've never had before. Thanks again!
I did a last minute booking for Valentine’s Day and it was so quick and easy to do on line. We arrived and were kindly greeted by the staff and shown to our table. First class service from the waiters, who were very attentive. Both our meals were served quickly, considering how busy they were and our meals were divine. Will definitely be back. Thank you to all.
This place is really good, in actual fact its fantastic. Had 2 vegan roasts and they were cooked to perfection. All the staff were very friendly, so we'll done to all concerned. A big thank you
Stopped in whilst travelling through on a long journey to take advantage of the motorhome carpark, for the traditional "Inn" experience. Parked our horse in the stables, and on a recommendation of great food from a friend, were seated and chose from the varied menu. My partner, being a large man with the appetite of a bear, went for the rump steak and I duly shared my seafood platter. Neither dish disappointed, the steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked to taste. The Seafood platter, albeit a breaded or battered selection was neither chewy or rubbery, which is common from a pub menu, so that's a definite win. Well done chef! The staff are made up of local youths from the village, all given jobs which they fulfilled with zeal, a hearty sight. Dogs welcome so lots of cooing over cute hounds, especially Olive who, despite having the best seat in the house next to a roaring wood burner, managed to successfully sabotage a sporting darts player by chewing a squeaky toy every time he aimed for the board. The bar manager gave a good solid medium between our hapless jokes and her professionalism, even chasing us back to our carriage with my forgotten scarf, an important family heirloom spun from gold which probably cost more than her weeks wages. Top points for honesty. We retired merrily without incidence, and would recommend anyone to take rest here are on their weary travels. Well done!
