After hearing some really good things about the new management here , my wife and I decided to come for a mid week meal. First impressions is the decor and place had a nice , fresh clean look to it and we was pleasantly greeted by the staff. It wasn't busy so we took a nice spot at the back end room. We ordered our meals and we both had the chicken burger with a garlic bread starter to share. The cheesy garlic bread was lovely , fresh , crisp and hot and really lovely. The chicken burger .. well it was nicely put together , decent taste but I have had better , I think the sauce needs revising and a better bun as the bottom half seemed to evaporate on both burgers and left you with half a burger and getting quite messy. It was a solid burger but the bun needs improving. My sweet potato fries was perfect , hot , crisp and well seasoned. Onto dessert I had the peanut butter cheesecake as it was highly recommended to me and I'm I'm honest this fell flat on its face. I'm a big lover of all things peanut butter flavoured but in the cheesecake I could not find the flavour of peanut and chocolate that normally goes so well together. It just tasted like the cheese filling and the base lacked a good binding. I also didn't get hard honeycomb dusting and bed the cheesecake came on , it didn't contribute to the flavour and the hard texture just confuses the pallet. I would suggest replacing. Overall on the food it was up and down , starter was excellent 5 , mains steady 4 but dessert was lacking 2. Overall I would score this 4 but my main issue is we are sat in a lovely dining area and then was joined by a dog from another customer. I have nothing against dogs , I have one myself , I also enjoy having dogs in a pub but for me no matter how cute the dog is sharing that space when you are having a meal is just a big no no for me. Some may disagree but having owning a dog , and having worked in hospitality for many years I know these two don't mix well and I don't want to make a big thing about it but that's why a marked it down. Its a shame really because this place came very well recommended and there's alot here I can see that works well with this place. I would return and if this place separated the dining from where dogs can go this would be a 4 star review and if they improve the dessert side then this place in my opinion would be pushing the 5 star level.
We went for a Sunday lunch after several hours of hiking. The food was great, well priced with decent portion sizes. The staff are all fantastic and even brought our dog something to eat which he was well pleased with. Great friendly atmosphere.
We were staying in a nearby campsite on holiday with our two dogs and came across this lovely pub on one of our walks, they were friendly, very nicely decorated inside and very comfy, our dogs were made welcome and we ordered lunch and they even offered meat for the dogs. Would 100% recommend this lovely pub with welcoming staff.
What a warm and welcoming environment we found at the Crickett's. The whole place was so packed, and bar filled but we both got a warm welcome and served almost immediately. The food portions where ample and we feel they were very good value for money. The lady chef Corine came out and had a chat with us personally which really made us feel welcome. Will highly recommended. Have booked for next week again.
Very inviting, we had a lovely Sunday roast which was piping hot, and very tasty indeed. The service was very good, but as we were both tired we only had 1 drink and the roast then left for home, but Will definitely be coming back to sample more from the menu! The rear garden area looked lovely, one for the summer. Definitely worth a visit if your passing
Booked a table for 16 and was asked to pre order our meals a few days in advance due to the fresh nature of the menu. On arrival we were asked if we wanted to eat straight away, by the time we had had a drink and settled in the food was coming out all together with no delays. The food was excellent and good portion sizes. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and Will definitely be back again soon. Thanks to everyone at the Cricketts Inn for a lovely evening
Brilliant never been here before will definitely come again lovely people and service responded to us soon as we walked in the door fantastic meals and worth the price decor for Christmas beautiful
Stumbled across this little gem and so glad we did!! The food was amazing and it was such a lovely place inside with friendly staff! Good range of children’s meals too which again was high quality food. Would highly recommend
Wonderful visit for my brothers 50th birthday, we pre ordered food as there was 11 of us. Staff very friendly, food was great. It’s was also great to see a good choice of vegetarian choices on the menu so it catered for everyone in our party. Thanks we definitely will be back again!
Just arrived hoping for a nice lunch, arrived to find bar tend unpacking stock and another person presumably manager working at the bar. We asked for a coke and a pint of Directors Directors not available. So offered pedigree. Before the pint was drawn we asked for menu as we wished to eat. Only to be told ovens and grill weren't working. We asked for a refund on the drinks as we wanted lunch not to have a drink and then go elsewhere for lunch. The chap we presume was the manager told us we should of asked for the menu before ordering drinks. My husband said well could you of put a notice on the door, he replied he hasn't got to! We did say well that's not very nice we have come out for lunch and wouldn't of ordered drinks if we had known. And with that attitude highly unlikely to return. Which he replied that's your choice! Bare in mind the bar man hadn't finished pouring the pint and post mix coke costs pennies per gallon. We both left stunned at the appalling attitude and will not returning . He may of been having a bad day but no excuse to take it out on customers.
