Story

The first thing that strikes people as they walk through the door is the great jumble of old beams everywhere, and the water wheel turning slowly behind the bar. The decks outside are built directly over the mill race and the rapids, and on the opposite bank of the river, steam trains arrive and leave from the restored station. Mountains and hills rise all around, and the smell of ozone fills the air – it’s a guaranteed hangover cure.

"Take a 14th Century watermill, add decks out over the Mill Race and white water rapids, and you have one extraordinary pub."

With the stunning River Dee as its backdrop and a rich history woven into its very fabric, The Cornmill stands out as an unmissable spot for lunch. We arrived on a drizzly summer day and were initially seated indoors. However, after a moment's contemplation, we decided to brave the slightly damp weather and move outside. It was a brilliant decision!nnSitting right next to the magnificent River Dee, watching its energetic flow and the holidaymakers gently float by, was a truly unique and memorable experience. We admit, our expectations for the food weren't sky-high, as beauty spots like this can sometimes disappoint. But we were so pleasantly surprised! Both our main courses—the honey sesame pork belly and the cheese pie—were absolutely gorgeous.nnWe highly recommend The Cornmill. Even if you don't stay for a full meal, it's definitely worth coming for a drink to soak in that incredible riverside atmosphere.
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was nothing short of delightful.nOur French waitress was lovely and had funny jokes, adding a personal touch to the experience with her friendly and attentive service. ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal.nnAnd the food? Simply amazing. Each dish was crafted with care and bursting with flavor, leaving me eager for the next bite.nnI highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy a meal in a relaxed yet refined setting. I'll definitely be returning!
I saw this Pub from the bridge when visiting Llangollen recently and thought I had to go and see inside. When we got there, I needed to have a little look outside from the balcony, and WOW..the views were incredible!nnInside the pub felt clean and tidy and we were welcomed by any colleague that saw us.nWe ordered drinks at the bar and went to our table. The only negative of this whole visit was the cleanliness of the Guinness glass..nnNow onto the food, we wanted some light bites and the menu had excellent options.nThe food came out in good time and was beautiful…and I mean all of it!nnIn summary, excellent food, awesome service, warm, friendly atmosphere. Would I visit again..? Absolutely!nnIf you are visiting, get yourself in there and enjoy the smile on your face at the end
Visited recently with friends for Sunday roast.nnThe building itself is lovely, with multiple floors and plenty of seating and views of the river.nnThe food is great and staff friendly.nnConstructive feedback: If you’ve not been before it’s not quite clear on where you’re supposed to go we just ended up going to the bar, then the bar upstairs and seemingly no matter where you do go you seem to be in someone’s way! Service also seemed fairly slow, the place is obviously very large so semi expected but be wary if you’re particularly hungry or want a quick bite.
This is a fantastic place to eat overlooking The River Dee. Service was exemplary and the food.....well it was delicious. My wife and I had the lamb shoulder as our mains and it was just melt in your mouth just as I like my lamb. My wife had the soup as starters and she commented how lovely it was. I had the Prawn cocktail equally as nice with a beautiful cheesy Garlic bread side. Very reasonable prices and has a great family atmosphere. Will certainly be coming back to eat here more than likely the best restaurant in North Wales. Thank you to all for such a pleasant evening.
