Story

The first thing that strikes people as they walk through the door is the great jumble of old beams everywhere, and the water wheel turning slowly behind the bar. The decks outside are built directly over the mill race and the rapids, and on the opposite bank of the river, steam trains arrive and leave from the restored station. Mountains and hills rise all around, and the smell of ozone fills the air – it’s a guaranteed hangover cure.

Beautiful dinner, stunning views good servicennTook my parents here when they visited. Mum had lamb roast, she said the meat fell off the bone and really enjoyed it!nnMy dad had beef roast, loved his portion sizennI had a cheese and onion pie which was delicious! Really surprised me with quality of food.nnNicely decorated and well lit. The views are lovely too. Will be returning.
Amazing riverside terrace which is fabulous to watch sunset on a clear summers evening!nnFood was good and service was quick, despite being fully booked! nnUnfortunately this place is let down by the bar staff, lack any engagement and common courtesies please/thank you with customers they are serving. Instead seem to prefer to serve their regulars over those who have been waiting at the bar the longest.nnNot quite up to the usual Brunning & Price standard for service but still a good place to visit if you can get past the bar staff.nnAlso dog friendly which is another big plus!
Superb location, never a dull moment kayak spotting on the River Dee and looking at the Llangollen Heritage Railway. Excellent, prompt service of the food from this Brunning & Price menu. Prior booking recommended at peak times as this multi levelled pub fills up so quickly. Great choice of cask ales on sale with the downstairs beers replicated upstairs for the dining areas. Quicker service up here as well
Llangollen's best pub! With a reasonable choice of real ales, & beers food is good and the staff helpful & friendly. The idyllic setting by the river & historic charm of it's oak beams, the views from the balconies and of course the old water wheel. Worth a visit
Easy booking online. They request that people bringing a dog let them know, so they can seat them in a dog-friendly area. I was given a nice table on the upper floor, with a view through to the river. Some of the chairs are beautifully carved. Cheery daffodils were on the table. The Sunday nut roast meal was very good, with lots of greens and vegetables. There’s a vegan Shiraz wine. Great meal and service.
