I love this place unfortunately I was when most shops had closed. Will visit again sooon
The core isn't too bad; however, it's unfortunate that it's being demolished to accommodate yet more student housing. One of so many places that this is happening around the city. I'm sure plenty of the remaining shops around the city will shut down due to them all having to give so many students the 15 - 20% discount that they all get on most things they buy The majority of the shops in the core are reasonably priced for most individuals unlike quite a few that are around Leeds . In time, Leeds city centre may just turn into an extensive campus filled with students, potentially losing its unique charm. It wouldn't surprise me if the university decided to move there as well. But that's Leeds for you. Visiting the core has always been a pleasure during my trips to town, and it will be sad to witness its departure. Let's just hope some more cheap places pop up so that those who don't have loads of money can enjoy shopping in Leeds.
Looking very delapedated with toilet doors hanging off, some not on at all. Place to wash your hands all cordened off, escalators/lifts not working. The sooner the shops remaining move out the better. Only subway, the expensive chippy and burger king open with the other two shut just sat there.
Beautiful place. Although the place is slowly starting to fall apart. I've seen too many store closures in here. A total of 13 shops over the past 5 years from 2015-2020. 2 were also in the merrion centre. Merrion centre always stands though. The core we need to save #savethecore
Only 50% of the Core is trading. There are more boarded up places. Only food stores like Subway, Graveleys Fish shop and Burger King to name a few. One store selling outdoor clothing for camping/hiking etc. Place looks ready for closing.
The building is said to be near closure and it shows. Most shops are closing, with the flagship HMV now placed in a smaller St Johns venue, all that's left is mediocre food stalls and a gym.
Nothing in this Shopping Center other than my Gym. As soon as HMV pulled out the writing went on the wall and it was only a matter of time before it was sold on for some other use. I understand that it'll be knocked down shortly and turned into yet more Apartments thereby accelerating the death of the City Center.
The lifts and escalators here are always broken. The stairwell is sadly often used as a toilet and is rarely cleaned. A few weeks ago there was vomit all of the stairs for the best part of a week. The evening security guards are also quite rude.
Has a public seating area so we didn't have to eat food in the cold when there was no space in the McDonald's over the road also the slushes from the chippy and Kaspa's desserts are peng
It was quieter here than the throng of Trinity! Had fish & chips at Gravels. Why? Because I'm a veggie and they fry everything in oil. This is rare as most chippies fry theirs in dripping. A relaxed atmosphere and a very friendly, calm server. Well worth a visit
