I have visited The Claregate at lunchtimes on several occasions in recent months. The staff are cheerful and welcoming. The interior is quite large and arranged around the central bar in alcoves and larger seating areas. There is plenty of room for large noisy families and also quieter spots for a quiet drink and a chat. The food menu is very varied ranging from mixed grills through pizzas to a decent veggie choice too. There is also a separate Kiddies menu. We've always been very pleased with the quality too. The bar is well stocked with the usual Marston's beers and the Amber bitter is excellent. I can recommend this pub for a family lunch or just a quiet beer and a read of your newspaper!

Seems a nice enough place. Most of the staff seem friendly and helpful. Function room seems to have been forgotten and left in the past. Went I have had food here always been good. Little pricey with some drinks. Why is it they do this. Keep it cheaper and you might get more customers.

Good menu with interesting combinations. Great atmosphere and a real mix of ages. Food was delicious and a really good price with one of their midweek offers.

Lovely food. Nice pub. Got pool games & television. Nice comfortable pub. Also outside seating in garden.

Not enough bar staff. Wait to be served was far too long. Tables not cleaned from previous users or before food was served. No large comfortable areas available to encourage large groups to gather and communicate with one another. Venue no longer acts or appears as a pub.
